What's the phrase ...... something about the Vatican & showing a certain part of my anatomy!!!
I'm sure that even if it was the case, any subsequent laws passed would be made retrospective!

don't be ridiculous, that would be immoral, unethical etc and the government would never do anything like that.    :-X

see specs i dont really mind, its the scheming barstewards who hide there vans & guns behind trees or in blindspots which pish me off, as they are the ones more interested in money & not safety.

altho I'm still not 100% conviced either way...  The SPECS do a good job on roadworks, but for general roads, they make the driver concentrate too much on the speedo than on the road itself...

But still, it will all go ahead regardless of public opinion, as since when do the government listen (take the vehicle tracking & pay per mile schemes which got massive objection on a government petition, they replied saying they wont do it, then 12 months later, there trialing it in 3 counties... >:( >:( >:( )

Afaik some of the hand held devices arent approved and the specs cameras arent approved for the way they are being used, doesnt stop them though, they know most folks wont have the money/time/ energy
to argue so they carry on regardless.
Personally I dont mind SPECS and most of the fixed cameras too much as they cant catch motorbikes. ;)

The report I heard related to the original trial being approved by Parliament with the general understanding that any deployment would require new legislation but the Home Office reckon what they have is enough. Not the first time that stuff gets the nod for a trial run in the belief it will need full parliamentary approval later but then a loophole is mysteriously found. Pay as you throw bin charges comes to mind.
