Title: ZF Buying advice
Post by: deviator on 25 July 2018, 13:55:22
Hello, it appears I am going to help a mate look at a car. A 07 (IIRC) ZF 3.0 Petrol. Low miles, with loads of toys.

Does anyone have any advice? What to look for, options the cars should have etc;

Thanks in advance, Dave

If XF, the 3l petrol was OK 10yrs ago, but a bit down on power by todays standards.  Front suspension is double wishbone, so lots of bushes to replace.  Base spec is Luxury, and similar equipment to Omega Elite, but no HIDs. Premium Luxury is next step up, and Portfolio is top dog. However, they all seem to have different options installed, so spec is luck of draw.

Useful options can include:
Adaptive cruise
Heated wheel
Music input interface (std on Portfolio iirc)
DAB

I didn't say I had said options ;)

But I do have the heated wheel, and its bloody brilliant in the winter.

Heated steering wheel. My dad has that on his Ford Fiesta. Uses it all the time. I told him the cruise control wasn't much cop....

Thanks for the info. Could you tell I was looking at steering racks yesterday?
