Yes, they do have gyros in them and they work in conjunction with the speed pulse of the car to know how far you are travelling in a given direction - this information is then interposed upon a map and the navigation can then operate fully - every 30 seconds or so it will then confirm its location by means of a GPS signal.

Operating this way makes them exceptionally more accurate than the handheld units that only know their location from a received GPS signal.

 ;)

Cheers Dave, I love this site - I've learnt so much...

That would fall in line with the fault diag then - no speed signal ? - But then is s/o GPS that inaccurate ?, maybe with a poor sig as well, Umm.....

What was the cost of the unit new ? - guess I HAVE to buy a facelift now...

That didn't solve it :( been told they receive 6 satellites on green
Its shows red when 3 satellites or less
it shows yellow when 4-5 satellites

One of them put in there home address and it started taking them in the wrong direction

Sounds like the Gyro in the main unit has failed then

 :'(
Do they realy have Gyro's in them ????

I beleive they use the SIRF chipset (phillips) - nothing goes wrong but if the signal is low they will give random readings

Looks to me like Poor gps signal!
Check AE connections - Also check the connections behind the drivers kick pannel, I'm fairly sure the antenna has a coupler there... or replace antenna with a new/known good'un

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: Elite Mem Seats In CDX ?
« on: 17 August 2010, 20:09:06 »
.... Anything is possible, A while ago, whilst living in manchester, a friend (!) of mine, who can only be discribed as "Tackleburry" from police academy, worked at a biological research lab, and being slightly miffed from having his car constantly broken into installed a "device" in his car radio - Suffice to say the basics of this were...
... A few lengths of wire, a "det-cap" and a condom filled with somthing that had been made in a fume cuboard and smelled like almonds ....

I think the idea was - thief steals radio.... connects the "Red" wire to a supply - "POP"..... "Oh I feel funny"....... Slump!

He did have that... radio stolen but never again.... Funny that  :y

I did suggest that leaving his Bucks-Fizz tapes in it would be a better deterrant but hey ho

Oh Wow...

That's saved a whole load of messing....

Now all i have to do is set a memory position that is fully forward & connect it to the alarm....
"Hey presto - car thief gets pinned to the steering wheel" :y

Thanks

Yeah.... I don't see it being rocket science, The main point was the adjuster ECU being in the elite seats (or did i have to get that as well) - I'll chop a section of the elite loom when i remove them - Mine's a 98 and the elite is an S plate... so all should be cool, At least easier than changing my ABS ecu.... Look like i've stuck my hands in a bag of cats !!! :o

Excellent....

That's kinda what i'd hoped - the ECU is in the elete seat - so just give it power  :y - Whilst at a scrappie on friday I found an elite with better cond front seats than mine -

...."Nice"

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Elite Mem Seats In CDX ?
« on: 15 August 2010, 09:10:39 »
Hi Everyone....

Does anyone know whats involved in fitting the front seats from an Elite (With Memory) into a CDX ? - Apart from the heat pads & airbags - would the supply for the adjuster's be the same as the CDX height adj or is there a different loom/ECU for the elite?

TIA.... Steve

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: Radio Decoding.
« on: 14 August 2010, 01:18:34 »
Hi Dave

Thats kinda what i ment - Having to physicly interact with the unit rather than a software (remote) decode... form the units serial number.

Radio dont work -
£15 - Radio does work - "Simples!"

Sounds like a bargin to me !

Just like back in my old TV days.... the customer would allways tell me "I dont think it's much, just a loose wire"

As if the o'l jedi mind trick would magicaly reduce there bill....

Anyone down your neck of the woods re-gassing Plasma screens  ;D

Hi -

Correct me if I'm wrong - but I think you can only decode one of those by dumping the bin file ? (or car pass of course)

(Is that right Dave ?)

Centrafuse seems to be the best front end :

Cool.... Excatly what i want to do...

"Its still miles away from been finished, but at least its usable now! - That said I really need to sort out the power switch (have to touch the wires together which are sticking out the bottom left of the screen/dash area!) as its been like that for 6 months now! "

LOL have the same issue with my kitchen..... bathroom.... car.... Hi Fi..... PC.... Garage.... garden.... shed.....

Ian :
Was it much of a pain moving the switches ect & do you still have the CID display ?
touch screen i guess ?

.. what front end is that ? - I was using centrafuse in my van PC. the nav engine was fairly good and the phone function was fantastic...
I do have the latest version but there is a bug with the UK postcode search (to be fixed on the next release)

Nice job - comming along - keep us posted

Hi Guys...

The PC itself is not an issue - what i wanted to see is if anyone had done it - Curious about screen mounting ect...

The plod must have had an awfull time fitting there stuff in - theres nowhere to put anything, I think the facelift would be a better bet but i aint got one (yet)

but before any of that i need a cup holder !

Hi Everyone...

Has anyone fitted a car PC in an omega yet ? I'd love to see some pics....

Some time ago i put a pc running centrafuse in my works van... Best thing i ever did, sat nav, phone & media all at the touch of a screen, it was a fairly heath robertson affair but worked well and being a van had loads of room

How ever did the police get on with them? - theres no room for anything, I did toy with the idea of replacing the CID but i like what it does, so any ideas? need to mount a 7" or smaller screen...

Happy to swop parts, ideas, software ect... :y
