I have read the various guides and posts on here and am none the wiser.  Now that I've got the MV6 scattered all over the workshop (cam belts and oil leaks are the main jobs) i thought it worth exploring why the A/C doesn't blow cold air (when the weather is warm) or why it doesn't seem to demist  very well either.  I had it regassed this time this year which had appeared to work for about a week or two. I assumed the condensor had got a leak which is the usual suspect on the Carltons that I am more familiar with, or the compressor which was dripping oil from underneath.  Now it seems that the system was still fully pressurised, and so far there is no evidence of green dye around any joints.  The compressor was soaked in oil from a fairly big engine oil leak from the exhaust cam seals and cam cover gaskets.  I have got a new compressor, condensor and drier to fit, but what else can be tested or changed to guarantee a nice cold flow when the warmer weather arrives. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I did some playing with "magic numbers" based on the stepper and lead screw and the results have been quite pleasing printing at 0.12 and 0.16mm.. currently printing a set of exhaust manifold bends at 0.32 to see what they come out like.

Starting to get to grips with all the settings - one thing I noticed is that Cura was very optimistic on the timings; turns out that's because it is calculating (in part) based on the acceleration settings it has (1800mm/s2, I think .. units might be wrong) while the printer is locked down in the firmware to 350mm/s2 due to the mass of the bed that needs to be moved. Folks reported success in bumping the firmware numbers up (a bit, not to the 3500 of smaller models, though!) and then down in Cura to match, so I'm fiddling with that.

Also modeled a Ford FE header flange in Fusion 360 as I couldn't find a model to steal, and printed one of those - got it dead nuts right first time which I was rather pleased with! Now to make a header flange that will snap into the exhaust manifold sections (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2053049)

Incidentally - those manifold sections can be bought as a finished product .. £1500 per set!

This sounds like a conversation that I should be part of, regarding exhaust manifold modelling.  I have some ideas about it, we should chat sometime, especially as you aren't too far away.
I've been making manifolds the hard way for 36 years, so anything that makes it easier is music to my ears!

Are they the same as Omega Elite dampers ??

Well I was fitting new Elite dampers (when they were still available) to Lotus Carltons and they fitted and worked well.  You just have to watch out if you have an estate, because those are a different length.  The valving is a bit stiffer on rebound for a Lotus one, but should be fine to fit to an Omega B Elite.  They won't be cheap though....

This is what I have done to mine and for me it gives a very nice compromise indeed. The rear shocks aren't going to last forever though and will need to be replaced with something else at some point.

New air dampers for self levelling Lotus Carltons are being remanufactured soon by a chap in ABS.

If you happen to find a low mileage one that's still attached to a 3.2 engine, i'd be interested in the engine to play with.
Or I'll keep in mind your quest if anything turns up.  I've tried chasing the MV6 bloke who had advertised an MOT failure on here, but have had no response.

Was going to suggest the same. I don't have anywhere to store a dead MV6, or anyway of moving it. However, if you end up with a whole car and don't want/need the gearbox....

The MV6 that is on here in cars for sale, is now on ebay. It has done nearly 300k so probably knackered, and MOT has run out so probably can't be test driven, far. But it's not far from me and I have a trailer...Also I am due to go to a VX breakers next week for a manual GB (the strongish one from a 2.2diesel) and I can ask if they have anything for you.

Thanks for that, I can't work facebook, and don't want to ask my wife to find it for obvious reasons.
If you can somehow find a contact number I'll give them a ring. There have been some listed on ebay, but from eastern europe and they look knackered..

OR...
rip out the electricary gubbins from the Co-op milk float mandatory electric SUV, install the V8 ,then throw all said electricary gubbins in a trailer and leave the trailer on the drive at home, saving fuel ,which is good for the planet 

tractor juice (diesel) engines are better suited to running generators than petrol though

Apparently they have to take big diesel generators to the Formula E races to recharge all the car batteries, but the gennies run on glycerin, which makes it Okay

Thanks Big Griff. I have found and bought throttle body locally, so I thought, but then it came from Hull I have got a manual box and pedals coming too soon.  Just need that LSD, or even a 3.7 open diff that I can modify with a Gripper or Quaife perhaps if funds allow.

Many random thoughts on this matter:-
Manufacturers are already investing millions in their "classic car" divisions which by then will be capable of "restoring" old cars for as long as there are people rich enough to buy and run them.
Conspiracy theorists will also already be thinking that Governments would like to retain enough non-renewable fuel to fight the next war they decide to wage, because electric jet planes, tanks and warships (the non-nuclear ones) are some way off yet.
The majority of local trains will still have to use diesel engines, even if they have to run some sort of eco-fuel.
Cities should have "electrified" their trams buses etc to make that possible and personal transport will probably be excluded.
They could turn all the rural disused railway lines into cycle paths, that might compensate the landowners for not being able to keep animal pastures anymore.
It's funny how we are being encouraged to turn to riding bikes, whereas the Chinese all want cars now (with very effective pollen filters)!
