Nice looking car that isn't 'shouty'

What does it have under the bonnet?

A diesel, or rather 2/3 of a diesel as it only had 4 cylinders.  I was very pleased to get mine back in that respect as I wouldn't like to try and overtake the dawdlers in that one. That said it was very refined for a diesel 4 banger.

They had a very nice 540i xDrive touring in there when I was mooching around the used showroom, but it was the wrong side of £40k for an impoverished bean counter such as myself.

The former Mrs 944 had it on her yeti, it worked well, unless disturbed mid-manoeuvre by another car, in which case it freaked out and gave up. ;D

I agree that it works ok if you have time to use it.  :y  Mine does bay park and parallel park but when you use parallel park it turns in at an alarmingly steep rake (front bumper too close to the car in front for my liking  ;D ). Effectively, the car can park in a smaller gap than I can.  ::)
Also, on parallel park, as it uses the sensors to see the car in front and behind, if the car in front and behind are ridiculously close to the kerb, or up the kerb, that's where you'll end up.  ;D  I like my alloys with no scratches on so I'll do the steering when parking. I filed it under 'I tried it, I didn't like it so I won't use it'.  ;D  Auto bay parking is straightforward, until you come across those annoying square/diamond shape kerbs in car parks that they insist on putting between every tenth parking space. Then, the bumper sensor has already gone past the kerb when the alloy scrapes along it.   ::)  Incidentally, I've never done that but have seen people that have.  :o

I was about to say, before I was interrupted ::) that our resident dealer has a nice 330d for sale...

SE with 19"s, Professional multimedia nav, sports leather, parking sensors front and rear and adaptive xenons. It's done some miles, but full BMW history and the best bit?

It's silver :D

Aye, seen that, shame it's a 330D, boot is far too small for work  :'(

It has the folding rear seat option too ;)

Boot is more comodious than it might at first look. Obviously not Omega sized, but then the 3 series isn't Omega sized either, so that shouldn't be a shock ;)

Indeed, which is why i'm not looking at 3 Series (well an occasional look if I see a bargain which is usually explained by the mileage or MOT history on closer inspection!  ;D ), it's also the reason that the XF is out of the equation as well.

My ML will do that too .... as you imply, a bit of a gimmick.

Mine do that to, not to bad for parallel parking, utter dog shit at perpendicular parking.

It does not get used  ;D :y

Fortunately, none of my cars have that.  However, if the Pussy had it, I might use it to put in bays, as for reasons I can't grasp, I can't reverse it into bays straight first time by using the mirrors.  And I've had it over 4yrs ;D

I did take a long look at the XF but the boot floor is too high and the boot too shallow for work, it's opening is also restrictive and I really wouldn't consider an estate to get around a flawed saloon design!
Or floored?

OK, I'll fetch me coat

Rear track is often a touch narrower to improve turning circles on longer/wider cars.

The designers hide this visually by adding a slight taper towards the back of the car. This also helps aerodynamics but does mean that the sides aren't parallel across the car.

All terribly exciting, but unless you line up with even space each side (so that the centre line is in the middle of the space) it will always end up pissed :D

I think mine is the opposite, with a fat arse and a skinny nose.

And that matches the angle its pissed at.  But even though I know that, its still always pissed.

Door mirror cameras are great for straight bay parking, as they make it appear as if the camera is above, so you can see the car and the lines. When I don't use the camera screen, I reverse in on the piss, curse myself, drive back out and reverse back in ........  on the same pissed angle as the first attempt.  ::)  ;D

It's compouned by the fact that bays are narrower than they should be and no one else bothers to park properly.

Mother has a blue badge, which helps. If I need to go somewhere with stingy spaces, then I will find an excuse to take her with me.  :D
