Big diesels are quick, just not exciting.

They won't rev.

I do agree with both of the above comments.  :y I took our petrol Audi for a spirited drive yesterday and it's ability to rev freely makes it more involving to drive.  :y

R8......RS6....RS4.....?

Do tell. :y

I wish.  :)

2019 2.0 TFSI Sportback. Been looking at RS6 (I have the A6 Avant currently) but I just know the novelty will wear off. Three year old RS6's with three former keepers is quite common, so are they getting rid for new cars whilst in the warranty period, or is cost/boredom getting to them.  :-\
I really can't justify spending my pension pot on something like that, as I know I'll regret it, but it hasn't stopped me from seriously looking.  ;D
Warranty worries probably  :D

You mean lack of warranty considering just how much an Audi costs to repair, and how often they need it. Powerful Audis are just fast cars that are truly boring until you get the bill...

A friend of ours was considering  Q7 but was put off by horrendous costs on an  Audi service plan, ended up buying a Ford Ranger as a towing vehicle, grossly underpowered with a 2.2 diesel engine I followed him to the Lake District in 2019 with our caravans he was struggling on quite easy inclines.

That's what you get for buying cheap... 3.2 Rangers are more expensive for a reason... ::)

The low compression Pinto in a Transit would make a diesel look clean. And they were four speed compared to modern sixes, so I don't think the gearing holds up either. We just didn't expect a fully loaded van to pull 50mph up hill as if it were empty.

Since from around 2010 you don't have to have a dealership service to maintain warranty, you can go to an indy providing that they use genuine service parts. Like you with your RR, I use what has always appeared to be a decent indy to keep my service history up to date on the new cars, for a fraction of the cost of main dealer prices or service plans. They are ex VAG guys and they can log the service history online (no service book with these cars). I still do interim oil changes myself at 5K intervals and I'll still do anything else that's not on the service tick list.  :y

Yes I agree with you entirely, but for some strange reason he likes to go to the supplying dealership for his services/repairs and probably pays through the nose for it, I prefer like you to be able to talk with the guy who is working on my vehicles and knows exactly what they are doing.

Firstly, I am not your 'buddy'.

Secondly, I merely made an observation. You, for some unknown reason decided to get all uppity at it.

As for the rest... Well, if the cap fits, you may as well wear it. If nowt else it should keep the sun off the bald bits whilst you're in the pub garden.

Incidentally, Rangers aren't that expensive to service at the dealers...

https://www.foraymotorgroup.co.uk/foray-servicing-prices

£325 or £465 depending on the service.
