General Car Chat / Vectra
« on: 30 April 2012, 11:06:22 »
I was going to post it in the general car chat but thought it would get a bigger audience in this section.

Is anyone near to Berkhamsted (Herts) who fancies doing a cam belt change on a 1.8 vectra on an 04 plate.  Been quoted quite a lot from a garage.

General Car Chat / Help Ford Focus Ghia 1999
« on: 02 April 2012, 19:49:08 »
I hope someone of you geniuses can help with this.  My brother has a focus and it keeps cutting out.  The symptoms are as follows:-
The speedo stops registering a speed,
The digital miles stop clocking up
The car cuts out when the car is slowing/as the clutch is depressed

It has recently had a new fuel filter fitted (he was told this was the problem)

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated as i'm not too good on Fords.

Forgot to mention i'm up North in Lincoln.

Thanks in advance  Jack

General Car Chat / Vauxhall Astra
« on: 12 December 2011, 10:52:04 »
Can anyone help with a question for a friend.  She has lost her spare key and is wondering if she can just have one cut or will it need to be coded.  She has one key which locks and unlocks on the blipper and then she has one that is just a blade.  The question i have is, will the blade one start the car (she thinks it will) or will she need to get a coded one?

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / HID'S
« on: 28 February 2011, 08:27:55 »
Hopefully i now have all the bits i need.  I'm looking at the five pin pklug from the old projectors and it has 4 wires in it and i have the one i've taken from the HID donor car and it has three wires.  I'm assuming that the yellow wire into the Ballast box is the live for it and the brown wire is the earth.  The question i have is can i take a feed off the brown wire in the five pin plug and place it in the ballast box?
Please don't ask me about the self levelling etc as i'm not fitting it i'm only adding the headlights.

« on: 14 February 2011, 09:44:07 »
Can anyone assist me with the part number and potential price of the lead that attaches to the back of the bulb and goes into the ballast pack.  I'm assuming they can be bought seperatly?

Omega General Help / HID Xenons
« on: 10 June 2010, 19:03:37 »
Good evening everyone,  i'm fortunate enough to have just been given some HID/Xenons.  I have a 2002 CD and want to fit the lights.  What do i need to have.  I have the lights and the box things that are underneath them.  What else do i need, i,ve just read a thread saying they had a HID light cluster switch for sale.  Will the one i have not work, also the levellers are all fine and will my ones work them.  Apart from i can't think of anything else.  I've read on the forum (can't find the link) that as it's a retro fit i don't need the washers.  Any assistance as always will be gratefully received.

Omega General Help / vriable wiper stalk
« on: 08 April 2010, 15:52:57 »
I've just tried changing my wiper stalk for one that is vriable following the link below.
http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1225410105/23#23
I now have all the MID display functions and the wipers do wipe but i now have no variable action at all.  I have re-read the instructions and cannot see what i have done wrong.  I have changed the relay with the one supplied and even tried it with the original relay all to no avail.  To try and help i will tray and put it as accuratly as possible.
Wiper arm in position 1 and i get nothing
Position 2 it wipes as before slowly
Position 3 and it's a fast sweep.

If i go from position 2 to 1 the arms stop in the position they were when i switched.

Any assistance from the knowledgeable would be greatly welcomed.

Jack Sorry for any spelling mistakes :-/

Omega General Help / Variable wiper stalk
« on: 22 March 2010, 08:58:02 »
Some time ago some kind member sent me a "how to" in relation to changing my wiper arm for one than is variable.  If i remember correctly mine is a 3 pin one and the one i have now got is a 5 pin one.  I sort of remember that i need to cut a wire and solder it to another one.  If anyone who is on can send me or find the "how to" i would be very grateful.

Omega General Help / Door locks
« on: 08 March 2010, 12:32:13 »
Good afternoon all who are on line.  I have recently had the door lock problem which appears to be a common fault.  I have got the new actuator and have managed to take the door card off (after a little struggle).  I couldn't figure out how to get the actuator off.  I've looked in the maintenance guides and common faults but couldn't find anything.  Has anyone got any ideas or pictures.

Omega General Help / Thanks
« on: 22 February 2010, 14:32:52 »
Just a quick note to say thanks to Daz aka Darth Loo-Knee.  He has just done the cam belt and assorted parts, the cam covers and all the breathers.  I agree with earlier posts that he can't stop talking and the prices were brilliant.  He only charged me a signed Rick Astley book and album for the cam covers and a signed Kajagoogoo t-shirt for the cam belt.  All in all a good price I thought.
In all honesty though he was brilliant and somebody i would highly recommend.

Daz just for you I went back to Kwik Fit and they broke the oil filter cover and are fixing it as I type.
