Phew, thank god for that, Matt Hancock has written off the NHS debt of £13Bn, for one awful moment I thought we taxpayers might have to foot the bill.

£13 billion will be a mere drop in the ocean when this is all over, Chris. What do you reckon about the triple lock on my pension?

When big bad Boris jacks up taxes and implements Greek EU style austerity to get the public finances back in some sort of order after this nightmare is over , the rejoiniac leftards and their MSM running dogs will really have something to squeal about!        

Either that and assuming that Boris means what he says about not extending the so called transition period, come 1st January, we will no longer be subject to the EU's Stability and Growth Pact and we can take on as much debt as we like and be like Japan who have a debt to GDP ratio of about 200%!    National debt of £4.5 trillion (approx) anyone?

We can do both.  The treasury should borrow loads to buy shares in all the struggling but otherwise good companies and ban foreign companies, sovereign wealth funds and governments (esp China) from taking controlling or large stakes. 

They can print money and flood the economy with easy money to kick start it back to life.  The downside is that inflation might go up, but that will help get rid of the debts!

Inflation is nothing to worry about. As you say, the government can inflate it's debt away and granny will feel loaded when her pension hits £300 a week...............until she goes to buy a loaf.

I wonder if all this will be the thing that finally takes the heat out of the housing market ? It should do, but then so should the financial crash and it didn't.
There is still the supply / demand problem despite the economics.

I wouldn't like to guess how all this will end , it's an unprecedented chain of events the only thing I want is my family & friends to come through this as safely as possible, but unfortunately a lot of folks don't want to or will not heed advice given. Cannot believe how little some value their lives.

This. While ever we aren't building enough homes, a problem we've had since the 80's and made worse by national chain 'house builders' who are incentivised not to build houses, house prices will continue to outstrip wage growth.

The unequal investment in different parts of the country will make matters worse in some areas than others, but overall the situation won't change for the foreseeable future.

then everyone who is left forced to have their every move tracked
we could have a DNA database collected during testing everyone in the world for an illness
get everyone to reduce pollution by innovating "work from home" and "work/live spaces"
get everyone eating pasta and rice rather than meat
stop people drinking to excess in pubs  etc ,which leads to sick days and alcoholism,health problems

All that has been tried before, one way or another, throughout history.  In the end though the people have prefered Democracy, which has produced better results.
