I don't believe we have a  housing shortage in the UK. We have far too many people.

'If only'  there was a way to thin down the surplus population
then everyone who is left forced to have their every move tracked
we could have a DNA database collected during testing everyone in the world for an illness
get everyone to reduce pollution by innovating "work from home" and "work/live spaces"
get everyone eating pasta and rice rather than meat
stop people drinking to excess in pubs  etc ,which leads to sick days and alcoholism,health problems

I could go on   

All that has been tried before, one way or another, throughout history.  In the end though the people have prefered Democracy, which has produced better results.

Or perhaps Dave I should say to you as I said to TB: Sieg Heil Mein Fuhrer!

Joking aside, which thank God we can still do, there  is a serious point I should make.

The Nazi scientists did experiment on death camp inmates to find ways of using deadly diseases to their evil ends, to create a super race. This research focused on human experiments dealing with: tuberculosis, petechial typhus, malaria, viral hepatitis, and those regarding sulphonamides as antimicrobial agents.   Over 7,200 died as a result of these experiments.

I therefore do wonder if somewhere, or in even a few laboratories, such research is still being carried out to kill the weak and those, like the Nazis believed, of "inferior origins", to create a master race.

It is strange, as others have said, how this virus originated in China, a State I would not trust an inch!

Now, I know this is pure speculation, controversial, and stinks of "conspiracy" theory, which I hate, but never forget the teachings of the philosopher, Machiavelli, and his theory about the greater good.

Like with the teachings of  Nietzsche, certain evil individuals and nations amoungst could fully believe these, as indeed Hitler did over the latter.

Don't forget that Allied scientists were more than happy to use Nazi testing results to further their own goals ,The Americans were more than happy to forget the suffering of the forced labourers used in the Rocket programme and were even more happy to sneak the same scientists into the U.S. for what eventually became the moon landing programme
