I don't know for sure, but I'd have thought that the Scottish government's civil service is a separate organisation to the UK government?   ??? :-\

Indeed, it's one of their devolved functions ;)

Apparently there were riots and shots fired (not by the police either) in Brussels yesterday.  :-\

Talk on OOF had Coronavirus down as "a bit of man flu, get over it" just a month or so ago  :P
interesting thing I noticed on the worldometers clicky website ....
UK "total recovered" sat at about 135 for weeks , then crept up a bit to 344 yesterday  :-\
NOW the figure has been changed to "N/A"
I did wonder if the UK government where non committal on this
guess i was right  ;D
not that ANY of the UK statistics mean diddly squat ,because they have been massively under-reported due to only using "in hospital" cases and not testing an equatable group , then ramping up testing , so who knows how bad the UK really is  :-\
my guess (and that's all anyone can do with crap data collection) is ,it's a LOT worse than we think /are told to believe

sorry to be a "Doom Merchant"  :(
though I know many on here will think of other names to call me  ;D :D

Cant say I disagree with that Dave,as daughter keeps telling us the fatalities at her place of work are considerably higher than is being reported .No thats either through human error or some "other reason"

millions of people die all the time ,I agree  ;)
a quick google says cancer kills 450 a day in UK (2015-2017 statistics)
that is less than current covid 19 cases inaccurately "reported "  :-X
cancer is another disease that we don't know enough about ,despite it being known about for decades and masses of research  :(
covid 19 has been about 3 months ...
IF you can be re-infected with Covid 19  :-\ or it lays dormant and comes back so fast after being given the "all clear"
WHO knows what will happen , (not the W.H.O world health organisation )  :P
autopsies show it coats your lungs with a layer , so multiple bouts of Covid 19 could suffocate even the most previously healthy person

That question was asked yesterday at the daily briefing. Answer given was that other countries are only reporting hospital deaths so we are comparing like with like .....  :-\ :-\

I'm NOT arguing with you sir BUT...
that's like saying we are counting who shops at tesco , it doesn't tell us how many people are out shopping altogether .
how many are dying in care homes,at home, hospices, etc etc

surely in this day and age with all the technology , we can count  ;D

It takes time to records deaths at the best of times... Factor in the fact that most agencies are running skeleton staffing and you can begin to understand the problem...

Also recording the cause of unexpected death usually requires an autopsy... See above... Testing and confirming results all takes time under normal circumstances.

on the telly box now they are releasing "death in care homes figures etc "
90.2% in hospital (up to 2nd April)
406 died elsewhere
136 died at home
33 in hospices
217 in care homes
20 "elsewhere"
with time-lag in reporting
