Last week I spent some time checking the Zafira A tractor juice edition over .
usual pre MOT checks , stripped the brakes and cleaned them up, greased, painted it's underneath bits ,serviced etc
found 4 inch of the front spring end had parted company  ::) replaced just that spring  :o
(with a used ,genuine, matching Ident spring from stock) it's not a race car, it potters about ,so I didn't feel the need to replace BOTH springs with matching aftermarket stuff  :P
dropped it in Friday afternoon for an MOT ,
passed with 1 advisory for "steering gaiter deteriorated but not allowing the ingress ...bla bla bla "
not bad really for a 130K ,18 year old beater  :)

I didn't order a brand new headlight for it  :D
the ones fitted are in great condition  ;D

also Jacked up the Omega and checked that over, slight bit of play in the idler/pitman arm
I did notice a tiny bit of movement in the steering when rapidly changing direction .
as the Omega is on all of it's original suspension parts ,i'm thinking  new shocks, track rods, top mounts, drop links,ARB bushes ,bottom ball joints and re-bush the wishbones etc

You're meant to say I need to replace the springs too DG ,because they will have "sagged"  ;D
so I can argue I'm not going to bother and keep the originals
(i do have new springs, for when the originals SNAP )  :D

You have to dismantle the struts to replace the shocks... Rebuilding it with fresh springs isn't even an additional step ;)

I know . I've done a fair few Vauxhall springs over the years
and I know (thanks to OOF  :) ( the need for alignment job each time it's apart on Omegas  :(
I will thoroughly inspect the originals when apart and refit if OK ,fit the new aftermarket if i feel the need.
the rears I have already replaced with stronger HD springs
any sag on the front I would consider a bonus ,the weight I carry in the boot .

Well its running. Has a chuffing sound though that sounds very like an injector seal - again.
Will change it tomorrow and put the minor bits & pieces like undertrays back, then hopefull it s back on the road and I can actually play with the Boxster.  :)

Just piggybacked a relay off Mrs Builders cigarette lighter to feed her dash-cams ,so they switch OFF with the ignition off
(so all the dash-cam wiring and plug is hidden under the coin tray)
Why Vauxhall felt the need to have a ciggy lighter socket on the Astra H's constantly ON is beyond me  :-\

Your not wrong. Ive somehow managed to lose my Halfords 1/4" drive ratchet with its extension and a 5mm socket attached.
Cant find them anywhere. If theres a sudden weird noise from deep in the engine bay in the near future I will know where it went.  ::)
