Title: Issues with the SAAB.
Post by: biggriffin on 16 August 2022, 10:51:30
The Saab is being a pain, new cam chains fitted, timing is correct, compression is good, new plugs etc fitted, coil packs changed,.new atmosphere sensor,MAF changed, coil vapouriser changed..
It ticks over lumpy and slightly hunting, switch the Aircon on it ticks over fine.
Below are som photos from the scanner,

I think I'd be looking for an airleak initially.

That MAF figure - 12 - is that kg/hr, and was that with A/C on or off.

Oh, and what size engine.  I'm thinking for something around 2.5l ish petrol, that MAF looks a shade low, esp if A/C was on.

It's 2.0t,,,, can't remember if that's Aircon on or off, we've done the spraying of carb cleaner about, couldn't find anything, might have to go, pull each pipe off and check each one... Do you have the Saab cartridge for your tech2..

for a 2l, its probably about right, maybe a hint high if the A/C was off.

Tech2 uses flashable memory cards rather than the preprogrammed cartridges of the Tech1.  So easiest way to get the Saab stuff on a Tech2 is to get the Saab equivalent of TIS (which might be called TIS, actually ;D), and reflash the card.  That then  makes it a Saab Tech2.

No idea if your Saab, being Vectra based, would need a CANdi lead, but I suspect it would.

Vacuum gauge is mechanics best friend  in these cases and can reveal more than just airleaks

What happens if you pop the old MAF back in?

We are also having issues with our SAAB as well
Tractor juice version, 10 plate auto
Keeps throwing traction off, ABS and brake warning lights and occasional going into limp mode
Had reader on several times and nothing showing stored or current

.

 No difference.

It's like the tickover is set to low, drops to about 500, then rises to 600ish, continually hunting tickover,
