Forgot to put my garden bin out last night.  :(

Now I have to waste a few hours bagging the contents and taking it to the tip.  >:(

Despite having to pay council tax of over £1600 pa ( which to me only covers having the bins emptied) we now have to pay extra (cant remember how much - circa £75 pa) to have our garden waste bin emptied. >:( >:(
I think our council tax came through the other day, £2800 I think, to empty the bins 26 times unless there is a hint of wintery weather...

Our green bin was around £40 since they started charging, but doubled this year, no doubt to help pay for the bone idle lame and lazy.

And, despite charging us 2800/26 = >£100 each time they empty our bins, they want to either half our bin sizes, or move to collection every 3 weeks.  Knowing West Northants council, former South Northants council before they blew all their money on a new office block and went bankrupt, they'll do both.

Yep they can only be bothered to empty the bins once a month and the plebs are living in the potholes, but they have plenty of cash for rainbow pedestrian crossings which are spreading round the country like a rash!  ::)
Not in Barnsleywakefield they're not.

Not yet, it will happen though as it's a box to tick.  Every city, town, and village will have one eventually.  :)

On a broader front, I wonder if the tide is turning on these woke lefty types? ???   :-\

We've seen Jacinda Ardern in New Zealand resign, then Wee Kranky went, and now Verruca. Who's next?  Canada's Trudeau?  ???

Looks like he wanted to change the wording of the constitution so as to be more gender neutral and inclusive.

Apparently words such as family, mother, and woman are outdated and offensive to some in 2024. ::)

But fortunately the Irish people told him to go f*uck himself

He's probably got 'Big Winston' on speed dial so doesn't need to.  ::)

I've always chosen first.  Never thought about putting my card in without pressing the buttons.  :-\

Andy might be right though, that if you just put your card in, the machine assumes your going to pay at the pump. Why else would you put your card in?   ???

Ah....the joys of a petrol motor car. A fuel designed by God himself. 8)

I have a can of petrol in my garage that must be 3 maybe 4 years old as it only gets used for my hedgetrimmer/brushcutter.

It doesn't seem to mind though.   :)

Get the beers in and have a cambelt party Tony!  :y                                                ;D

No party, I’m getting old and only up for doing the one cambelt in a day! I’ll have a cheeky beer after, though :y

You need a few minions to do the stripping down and rebuild while you do the crucial bits.  :y

Setting the timing with your beer goggles on might not work though...  :-\     ;D

How old is the old diesel we're talking about?  ???

Hundreds of millions of years? Tens of millions or just a few millions?  ::)

Sorry, I'll get my coat.  :-[    ;D

Anyway back to Uncle STEMO's article. I lifted the below from the comments section and I think it's a very good point!  :y

People seem to miss the point that this isn't only about the cost of charging a Jaguar EV.  It shows that a car you own can be controlled via software over which you have no control. If someone somewhere in power decides they don't want your car to work, they can just switch it off centrally. Tesla already has immense power over all the privately owned Teslas.  All Teslas come with all facilities but you have to pay Tesla to use certain features. This may sound innocuous as it is used now, but it's a massive power that could easily be misused and individuals will be powerless about it.

Conspiracy theory or fact?  ???

Now I love a good conspiracy theory mind!  ;D

So glad to read that my 29.17p pkwh, plus 62.11p per day standing charge Octopus electricity tariff subsidises EV owners who enjoy a 7.5p pkwh tariff to charge their milk floats!  ::)

Roughly £56 a quarter even if you don't use much electricity. >:(

The wholesale cost of natural gas is about the same price as it was 3 years ago, so why haven't our energy bills dropped back to equivalent levels?  ???

The bastards even had the cheek to put prices up in January as well!  >:(

Think I'll complain to OFGEM!  Oh wait.....   ::) :-X
