Only prob i had was with oncoming 4x4 muppets driving through lakes fast....

Yeah, the to$$ers amongst the 4x4 owners really stand out on days like this. The other 364 days of the year they have to put up with driving an agricultural, cumbersome P.O.S, though, so I don't get jealous.    ;D

Top down in the hairdresser Mazda

Ermm. No. Did have the window down at one point but wound it up again as I was getting soaked!

Not sure our hose pipe ban ever got lifted. SE Water are bad enough at sending bills out for the correct amount to the correct people let alone stuffing water in pipes.

.. and the Omega's in getting its' bonnet replaced :-(

That makes my only working car... a Westfield! (only just working, exhaust is hanging off due to another dodgy weld)

Chickened out this morning and dropped Emma off at work before driving in in her MX.

Felt a bit like this : http://www.gibbstech.co.uk/aquada.php

It was the size that got me. The photo made it appear much smaller than an ECU. Yep, it is an ECU not an immobiliser. What a muppet I am (again!!!)

They're very compact these days considering what's inside  :y

If mine cops out does anyone know it the unit is as easy as plug and play?

TB will confirm but I think it's paired with the immobiliser and key transponders so unless you transplant all 3 from a working car it will need a Tech2 to pair everything up.

Hmm. Just noticed he does PCMCIA serial port cards too. I wonder if they work any better with a cheapo TechII?

SWMBO's happy because I (uncharacteristically) agreed to go shopping with her to Southampton.

She hasn't noticed the Machine Mart Southampton store locator sitting on the printer :y

I think a drop-off at M&S / Lohn Lewis / wherever followed by some serious toy shopping is required!  ;D

Another fault I've seen is the inverters for the cold cathode backlights. These have voltage and current monitoring circuits and will crowbar everything if they go out of spec. Sometimes if you can isolate the supply to this part of the circuit you can verify that the main SMPS is working.

Plenty of Euros to give to the French plod.

He he. Was in a kit car convoy on a french motorway a couple of years ago. Bloke in front got a fair way ahead. Traffic eased so I decided to close the gap, well into 3 figures.

Tail end charlie behind me maxed out at about 90, just to see a Gendarme filtering onto the road on a motorbike  :o

He got frog(!)-marched to a cash point to make amends.

Guess I dodged a bullet that day  ::)

Sounds like they're just getting @rsey about having to change the policy so frequently. How long has the policy got to run? I'd be inclined to vote with your feet and start afresh with someone else. I've never been asked how often I change my car when applying for insurance!

If a newish Veccy 1.8 was going to cost me as much as an Elite to insure I know what I'd do.

1) Don't know

2) Sounds like the charcoal canister purge valve. It will go to one of the post-throttle breathers. The canister collects nasty fumes from the fuel tank and once the engine is running the valve opens to control the purging of these fumes to the intake system.

3) Don't know

4) Don't know

5) Guess what? Don't know!

Well, as you can tell, I've never looked under the bonnet of a veccy but hopefully that's one question answered.

Something to do with the breather pipe confusion? Or is that fixed now?

It's all very well, but that fact that advisories are issued is noted on the MOT certificate so if you sell the vehicle on it is still tainted, in a way, and could put off a potential buyer. All for a load of trivia anyone with common sense would have realised.

Excellent news! It is very satisfying when a job like that brings rewards.

smoking outside and it blows in through my window!!!!

Yeah, this is a real nightmare, and worse than having a dedicated room inside the building. Used to have the office above goods inwards. With the window open, every courier van that turned up, driver got out, sparked up  >:( Either that or they left their engine running and we got tractor fumes >:(

Then they moved my office to the back of the building  :y and built a smoking shelter the other side of the car park  :(. Still there's air con now, so that runs 24/7 and the windows stay shut.

This is coming from someone who has been known to imbibe too ::)
