Emissions light
« on: 19 July 2007, 14:58:39 »

BAH - the emissions light is on, on my Veccy.

Can I flash out any codes, or do I need a reader? What might cause this? It's on all the time, on petrol or LPG...

Strange....wasnt on when i had it....suprising really seeing as it was running on 3......maybe it hasnt liked the head rebuild  :-/

If the veccy is ok running wise......id see if it goes out.....give it a few tank fulls of lpg and see what happens.....i think its case of so many clean starts before it goes out.....this appears to the case on my omega....when that pops the emissions light on

Dunno if you can flash the codes out on it.....i always used my cheapo tech2 on it.

Something to do with the breather pipe confusion? Or is that fixed now?

The light came on when I picked up the car before the head rebuild.. it only came on when I bashed the dash, so  I guessed it had been on for a while undetected.

I think step 1 will be to double check the vacc setup (TD, I might have to have a look at your 2.2 with DBW!) and step 2 - read and reset.

If that fails, step 3 will be to get the emissions read. if they are ok, remove the bulb  [smiley=evil.gif]

banged the dash?  loose connection, which will cause the light to come on.

Even if the ECU is not telling the light to come on?

If ecu detects no bulb (including lose connection), ecu will light the bulb until reset.  so a duff connection will cause it to be on

Oooh ok... that's a useful bit of info

Can emissions light be detected with cheapo tech2, or does it need a real one?

A chap in the TreVoR garage opposite us has a generic code reader which reads ECU codes, misfire is emmisions light but not ECU light
