What are you feeding it on, has it got somewhere warm to sleep?? EMU's can be quite temperemental if you dont treat them right, but they do taste quite nice apparently, bit like chicken :y

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / 8 or 10 digit switching
« on: 28 March 2009, 11:56:10 »
Helloooo, I'm trying to put a CAR400 (amoung others) into my Sintra...the one with no code works fine...the CAR400 needs a code inputting...doesnt beep when holding AS while starting radio like it does on the Omega...I was wondering if maybe the Sintra has a 10 digit display (or the other way round) and so the stereo needs changing accordingly to be able to put the code in?? If so, is it the 2 and 4 buttons or 2 and 6 buttons or what?

Also the alternative is to put the stereo into the MIG and turn off the code input so it will just go straight into the Sintra...what buttons do you use to turn off the code input??

Thanks :y

You dont have to bend the pipes that far and they have a fair degree of flexibility and dont need to actually bend to get the access you need...obviously you only angle the unit up as far as is necessary to get access to the screws, about 45 degrees...and its all horses for courses, personally only done this on a scrapper so far for easy removal but seemed it would be fine regardless :y

I'll agree that bba-reman do a great job, 5 day turn-around, courier it back, and give a warranty... but its about £130 ...

If you get one from a breaker, same makers year/model (same part number) it shouldn't need a Tech II ...

It's a damned fiddly job to change .. not hard .. fiddly ..  most folks don't put ALL the bolts back in ......

HTH
Its a lot less fiddly and saves a lot of time if you simply (and very carefully) bend the whole unit up to an angle where you can easily access the 6 screws and replace the ECU...then carefully bend back into place...brake pipes have a fair degree of flexibility   ::) :-X

I have a 2.5 auto one here from a facelift 2000 CDX...should be same part number though and shouldnt need reprogramming  :y

You say you understand it has a Bose system...are you sure it has?? What head unit do you have...only the Bose system only got introduced into the elites in late 97, October or so...

Have you checked the fluid levels in the auto box? Perhaps the warning message is genuine?? Low fluid levels will cause the gearbox warning message and needs to be dealt with...
