New Years' first good deed?
« on: 01 January 2008, 03:55:45 »

We had a few friends over tonight. Went outside at 2am to throw away the rubbish. New-looking Honda stops next to me, inside are a well dressed middle-aged woman with a 10 years old boy. She opens the window and says she needed my help, she is stuck without petrol and wanted £4 to get her home. I have been approached before by beggars with made-up stories about bus-fairs etc, but she was well-dressed, well-spoken, and had a new car... plus I had pity on the kid. So I went inside, got £5 from my wallet and went back out and gave it to her.

Would there be a garage open? £4 seems an odd figure to ask for. Strange one that. :-/

Could be... maybe I've been had.. but she did look genuine... so at best I helped a damsel in distress, at worst I've lost a fiver...

And while I was out there I found a 2 Euro coin on my doorstep, so I cut my losses by £1.40!

No regrets  ;)

and all us negative grumpy sceptics will of course take our hats off to you when she arrives back with your £5 to prove you right.
 :y
Or even become your best pal when it turns out she is married to an oil rich Arab and drops a £1,000,000 cheque off to you  ;D :y

Well we can live in hope your good deed is repayed ..

I'll bet she used the money to fuel her addiction to heroin or booze.  ;D ;D

Good for you MarkJay. If there were more people like you, London would be a nicer place.  :y
