Hi mate

I'm afraid I'm no expert, but I fitted a detachable to mine (GBW) I think. :-/

Anyway, mine looked very close to, but when I got my trailer on it there was still a good gap and when you think about it. It isn't going to get any closer.

I'm just carefull when I drop the trailer on.

Have you tried it? ::) :y

Had to drop the front section of my exhaust to remove gearbox.

I've got a belled out male/female joint in the middle section. No gaskets?

Is it worth putting some compound on before bolting it up? :-/

TIA :y

Torque them up with a wee tad of locktite IMHO

Haynes book of lies says  :

Release cylinder mounting bolts   22 Nm

Shouldn't do any damage if you don't exceed that :)

Cheers Buddy, that's what it's called is it. Thanks :y

Omega General Help / Re-assemble in reverse order help please
« on: 29 July 2009, 23:31:42 »
Hi Guys

I'm sure some of you are fed up with me by now.  :-/

Hope someone can advise me.

I've stripped out my gearbox and clutch between showers (monsoons ::)) today, due to leaking clutch fluid.

Anyway as I came to replace the slave cylinder, I found it really loose, in fact all 3 bolts were a good few turns loose and the unit was flopping about.

Now either it has been changed in the past and not tightened or it has worked loose itself.

I'm not that confident about tightening the new unit to tight, with it being ali gearbox, so is there something like loctite or similar that will grip the bolt in place, without overdoing it. I've notice a none setting substance on for instance brake caliper bolts etc.

I dont want to be fitting spring washers that shouldn't be there ::)

Thanks for your patiance and advice, guys it really is appreciated. :y

Wondered that but it looks like it won't drop passed the gearbox crossmember and exhaust bracket.

Does It? :-/

Omega General Help / Help Please - Prop Shaft Removal
« on: 28 July 2009, 20:29:27 »
Hi Guys

I'm attempting to replace the clutch on my 2.2 DTI 03 Plate. A few of the lads on here have given me loads of advice and I have read the Maintenance Guide on Clutch change.

I've got my parts, Car up and on stands and more stands :y

Now because of the pi***ng rain, I haven't be able to get stuck in yet, but I've had a gander underneath and the only thing that's puzzling me is how you get the Prop Shaft out of the way.

I can see the 3 bolts mention in the guide to disconnect from the Gearbox, but do I have to take the middle bearing out and disconnect at the Diff'? or am I missing something? :-/ :-/

Any advice would be appreciated.

Hoping to get on with it in the morning.
If it Stops Flameing Raining!!! >:(

Cheers :y

But do I need a thrust bearing also or does that normally come with the Slave cylinder. :-/ .......

As per thepiccy of the Astra set up, they're integral to each other.  :y

Sorry Andy B

Hi Guys
It looks like I need to replace my Clutch Slave Cylinder. It or a pipe around it seems to be leaking badly. :'( (2.2 Dti on an 03 plate)

So I was thinking is it worth replacing the clutch at the same time as I have the gearbox off. (Done 160,000m) The clutch grip is good, but I can't afford to leave the car of the road if I find it is low once I've got it stripped down. I need the car to make a living.

I've been quoted £500  :o for a replacement clutch and cylinder, fitted. It was only £350 a couple of year ago for my 2 Ltr.

I've decided to do it myself, next weekend. But I'm not sure what exactly to order. I know I need a Clutch plate, Pressure plate and Slave cylinder.

But do I need a thrust bearing also or does that normally come with the Slave cylinder. :-/

I was looking at these on fleebay.

Any advice would be really appreciated.

The arm dropped out of my front sensor, worn joint. Popped it back in, an hour later it came out again.

Took the stealer 3 weeks to get mine, there wasn't any in the country at the time.

Had to put up with the message in the mean time and possibly dazzling everyone at night :o

Had to come from Germany
