Omega General Help / 3.2 Transmission swap

Afternoon,

I sourced a spare ar35 from omegas52 on ebay, its coming to me on friday.
The thing is, no one round here is prepared to swap the boxes for me. (We dont touch automatics mate) etc etc.

I dont have access to a ramp, but im considering trying it, can anyone give me their view on this please?
How long might it take for example?
The old box has needed topping up every two weeks for a while, now its undrivable.

I would really rather not do it but its looking like i dont have much choice.
Help!

Omega General Help / 3.2 Transmission losing fluid...

Hello,
My AR35 has to be topped up once a month, yet i cant see any signs of leaks.
It slips sometimes when driving, though its rare..
A low whine has developed at anything over 50 mph,
Would it pay me to replace the box or have it repaired?
Am very concerned with the potential cost...

Omega General Help / Auto Gearbox trouble

When the car is cold and i pull up to the traffic lights first thing, it will rev up in drive before moving off.
Also when cold if going up a hill there is sometimes a judder and it slips a bit then catches...
Drives fine when warm.
I asked the local garage to change the fluid and filter but they say it doesnt need doing on these.
We all know it does, and thinking about doing it myself...
Any thoughts?
I assume this problem will get worse if left..

Omega General Help / Head Gasket failure?

To cut a long story short, 3.2 still missfires in traffic although fine on a run. (0301, 0303, 0305, 0300). Rough on both petrol and lpg.

I fitted a Bosch coil to that side twice, still the same.

I mentioned fuel trims and the garage claim they are ok.

I have supplied them a used engine loom to put on, but they keep insisting its one of the head gaskets, and claim its more than the car is worth to repair.

Now when in traffic, i can switch off and back on again and she is fine for a while. This to me does not indicate a head gasket failure, which i gather Omegas are not prone to, although they said about the colour change on the coolant test..
I have only lost the tiniest bit of water in the last 3 months.
Help!

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / 3.2 Ecu Possible Fail?

Hi Guys,

Car keeps misfiring, has new coil packs and plugs, so have been advised by the Garage to send the Ecu off for testing. They said they have checked out the wiring. Compression is fine.
Having read a few posts, i understand the Ecu failing is extremely rare?
I am happy to do this but wanted it done asap...

Any advice please?

Omega General Help / Eml Light Flashing.

Eml flashes after a couple of minutes driving, then missfire occurs on 1,3,5, and light remains lit. It happens at the traffic lights or slow moving traffic and has a lumpy idle.

Switching ignition off/on cures it for a bit, and if driving without stopping the car is fine, plenty of power.
It has new coil packs and plugs...

Will pull the coil in the morning and have a look round, in the meantime any ideas?

So i have replaced the 2,4,6 side, with new plugs,
Ran great for a day, now 1,3,5 are playing up.

Am i that unlucky? or is this quite common?

Omega General Help / Code P0304, Dbw Coil Pack Issue.

Ok, so, threw a P0300 yesterday, which i cleared. Today a P0304 which wont clear until i turn the engine off.
So the plan is to get a 2,4,6 Genuine Coil pack, Bosch i presume...
However, i cant see the part number because some of the Lpg kit is in the way, and i dont want to remove just to get the part number.
Are they all the same on a 3.2 on that side?
Also the eml flashes for a bit then stays lit.
Iirc, Kevin Wood once mentioned this means the cats are in danger or something?
Could anyone shed some light on this?

Omega General Help / Flat Battery, now immobiliser problems.....

Hey Guys.

Flattened the battery while parked up, now with jump leads she turns over but wont fire.
The spanner is flashing, have tried both keys, lock unlock etc. No joy. Car is stranded 2 miles from the house.
Help!

Omega General Help / Upgraded Suspension

For those that may be interested, one of my rear shocks had seized. Didnt fancy the stealers prices so have fitted bilstein b4 all round, with standard killen springs on the front and heavy duty killens on the rear to help with the towbar and lpg tank.
The handling is transformed, each to their own but i fully recommend it to anyone who is considering upgrading. The mot station said it failed on two front bushes and they had to fit new wishbones, at £70 each plus labour. (which with two tyre fittings came to £200 labour alone) I argued and told them to press new ones in as i didnt want pattern wbs. They said the labour would be more, so i gave in in the end but very dubious about this. Hmmm. But hey the car is riding great!

Hello. Engine cranks, no codes, pump fuse blowing, relays swapped and still blowing. Car has been fine untill now, it has to be the fuel pump i presume? Thought this was very rare.... thinking about it the fuel gauge packed up two days ago aswell.... ? Help

Omega General Help / Elite Suspension

Evening. I would like to upgrade the Elite suspension (facelift 3.2) for something a bit stiffer.
I know this prob gets asked a lot but i dont want to use Mv6 bits and end up lowering the car, as it has a Lpg tank in the boot and a towbar.
Mv6 performance would be great but at the Elite height! I am happy with the Vaux self levellers but not a problem if i have to lose them, and i dont really want Monroe self level.
Do Vaux do heavy duty Shocks/springs?
Any Ideas?

Hey Guys.
I dont want to open a can of worms, however: i accept that i cant play cdr's in a 2015 unit, and i realise why i cant, i know it has to be a gen cd, but what i would like to know is what do you all use instead?
I cant wire mp3 or ipod i believe, and I wouldnt want to replace the head unit as i like the phone, and i know that i would have to rewire half the car as its a bose system, so am using a fm modulator for now but am not a huge fan of it.
Is there a better way?

Hey Guys, have read lots of posts on keys and tech2 etc, am i correct then in summing up:
I buy a new horseshoe type blade with a transponder in it from ebay (105 on blade) get it cut, or get a blade from the stealers with my key pin, then i get a replacement three button fob with red light, they are all the same on saloon facelifts?, then pm one of the admin lads for tech 2 expertise, and bring vehicle and car pass to them...?
 I would rather have only one key than go to the stealers for it to be programmed, its the principle of paying them that much money.
