Programs showing the change to HD (RED BANNER) across the bottom of the screen .

Dont mind it being shown at the start of a program - but to have it displayed thoughout is really annoying.

People who watch the regular programs will have got the message by now.

Dont know if it can be turned off - I record everthing so its all ready there and not an option for me to remove it. :-\

Swap from the "standard definition " channel you are recording on to the "high definition" channel for BBC recordings  ;)

I had the same issue , because I record things in SD to save space on the hard drive of the Sky plus HD box.
it's still an old DRX895 with a 2 terabyte hard drive with "magic eye's" for other rooms

 but i don't want a wanky SKY Q box "on loan" and extra SKY Q mini boxes with extra associated subscription  >:(

much to SKY TVs annoyance  >:D
