Wot about an MOT thread
« on: 01 March 2010, 18:49:09 »

MOT today. not good. 7 items  :'(
Both front wishbones, Both rear brake pipes. N/S front to rear brake pipe, O/S headlight adjustment ineffective, welding needed near steering Ider mounting.
(only had 1x  brake pipe and a pair of tyres last year.)
So spent all afternoon doing wishbones. Brakes wednesday.
Headlights removed tonight. both broken internally -this looks like a common fault. Tried to remove covers but stuck fast with black goo. So hope breakers got some.
Not a great day. Nearly scrapped it. ;)

Also anyone know of a good place to get a plate welded on? - Northampton or near.

Black goo can be softened with use of a hairdryer giving access to the broken adjusters.  If enough bits are in there, can be glued back together, but easily broken.  Might be enough to get your ticket though....

As Hotel 21 says, but I used a Stanley knife too to gently slice through the mastic/glue.
Looks like I'll be doing the same soon.  :(

God this has been a sh1te week. This is getting expensive.
Managed monday off for MOT. Got and did both front wishbones, Wednesday attacked rear brake pipes and Front to rear nearside pipe. Had to buy another Brake pipe flaring kit as lost the 3/16th flare accessory of last years kit.  :(
Then headlight adjusters completely ferked. Too many pieces to glue together so two new light units off Vauxcenter, fitted tonight.
So just need patch welded and hope that's it for a year.
MOT cost approaching £400 so far. just about what the car's worth!

so come on can we have a dedicated MOT thread?
