Is it possible to replace the stereo aerial jack??
« on: 18 September 2007, 19:14:04 »

Me again...

Right I think I have figured out why the mobile phone is so dodgy on my radio...  The actual phone aerial which plugs into the back of the radio, the wire has come loose from it and will spin about a fair bit!

I removed the stereo from the car to figure out why the trafficmaster wasnt working, I then discovered it wasn't even installed :| Oh well...  It was then I discovered the aerial for the phone was dodgy.

Can I just cut one from another Omega in a scrappers, or is it a Vauxhall-only repair or some high-street car audio place??

Cheers

[edit]

Also, is the phone aerial amplified at all, thus requiring a 12v live??  If so, which pinout/wire would it be??

Cheers again

AFAIK the aerial lead is in 2 bits. One from the rear screen to somewhere in the driver's side foot well, and an extension to the head unit. I've never seen the Omega's only heard about it on here. (I was more intimate with the Senator, which is joined in the passenger foot well! ;) )

Pass re the phone aerial  :-/  :-/  :-/

Right been looking into it...

It's a seperate piece (like the rear aerial) where the cabin part for the dash plugs into the other half behind the kickpanel and runs to the radio.

Need to check out EPC at vaux to see if its right, and then get it ordered in...

Do you not have any breakers/scrap yards nearby? That way you can have a practice removal first1  ::)

Yes, but finding an elite or high-spec CDX with the 2 aerial's will prove to be a swine round here...

IIRC, removing the glovebox gives enough access to feed the wire through...
