Ooh! I'd do that before driving it any further. Cold well be an idler pulley breaking up :o

Give it an overnight charge and check the battery terminals as mentioned. Also, check the charging voltage just in case. Otherwise, looks like a duff battery.

If it's getting charged a little slow due to a bad connection, a couple of short trips like this could have allowed it to go flat.

Anyone got any ideas for a Laptop with a real serial port that can be had with XP?

Dell Latitude is about all I can come up with at the moment.

But why is it that all these cars that run on air, electricity, chicken sh*t, hydrogen,CO2 Bat crap, hot air from livingstone K & total Sh*t from Government have to look so bloody awful. Why cant we develop a car that looks the part does 0-60 in 4 secs, top speed 190 mph does not need filling up & floats over speed humps ?

I've often wondered this. Why don't they just make them look normal?

I guess their target market at the moment are people who want to make a statement (the technology isn't actually up to doing any more than that at the moment, after all) so they make the cars stand out. In a BAD way, IMHO.

.. and break me! What sort of pressure do they store the air at to achieve that energy density? Crash the thing and the next thing you know you'll have become a human meteorite!

Crimp tools are available here (silly money though).

Sounds like it's improved matters (must have done if the terminal's now cold). I'd still have a look at your charging voltage to eliminate a problem with the alternator.

If you're now getting a good, stable charging voltage at the battery (high 13's to low 14's) I'd regard it as fixed as long as there's enough free slack in the wire to cope with a bit of engine rocking. May be able to liberate a bit of slack from the other side of the engine if required.

you need to buy an LPG kit!!

True.

I need to get in touch with Jeremy and decide on a tank option that'll fit.

Anyone ever tried to fit a 235/45/17 in the spare wheel carrier? Cos that's about the size of a useful vertical doughnut tank :-/ Guess I'll try with one of my wheels. I need to check the fronts to make sure my recent tyre shopping didn't result in the wheel nuts getting over-tightened ::)

.. and, if we've got time, chuck an LPG kit on my MV6....  ;D

Give me a shout when you're free - and start spraying one of your Lambdas with Plus Gas on a regular basis...  ;D

However... I suspect the really interesting thing to do at this point might be to put a wideband lambda sensor on it 8-)

am getting at least 5mpg  :y
Well worth converting, then? ;D

On a serious note, now mine is running almost A1 on gas, I am planning to take exact note of the mapping points, and shift them down a bit to improve economy - I average about 18mpg on an enthusiastic run...

Remember that for most of your mileage, it will be in closed loop mode with the Lambda sensors controlling mixture, so changing the LPG map will just result in the main ECU adjusting it back again.

General Discussion Area / Re: Flight simulators for PC's.

The gliding club of which I am a member have built a serious flight simulator. It's the sawn-off fuselage of a 2 seater glider with all flight controls connected to a PC. 3 projectors provide a panoramic display over almost 180 degrees.

They run the silent wings flight simulator and, having clocked up quite a few hours in the real McCoy I was amazed how realistic it is.

The chief flying instructor did a little experiment and managed to train a complete newbie on just the simulator to the extent that her 10th flight in a real glider was solo! (Normally this takes probably 50-70 flights depending on the pupil :o)

Only problem is if you fly it for too long, you walk as if you've had too many Stella for a few minutes ;D Oh, and if you put it into a spin, the standard recovery procedure doesn't work, but at least it doesn't hurt when you hit the ground.

I have a pair of speakers that I built from a Hi-Fi world kit 8 years ago. Before I veneered the cabinets (MDF) I decided to bolt the drivers on to "see how they sounded". 8 years later I still have a pair of floorstanding MDF boxes in the living room. Guess I should finish them one day.

Mrs. KW is not very happy about them, but they were there before she was ;D

Mrs. KW is not too happy about the marine ply bathroom floor complete with box of floor tiles either, but they're further down the list, having only been there for 2 years ;D

... and I have a possible kit car project potentially on its' way (injection system to install) that I haven't mentioned yet  :-X, and a LPG MV6 project on the cards... :-/

Kevin

No question about the order of priority there then..

car
hifi
bathroom
 :y ;D

... and you should see the state of my garden! (dumping ground for old car bits)

yep..I also built them from an electronic schema..They were enormous big and powerfull..Nearly 1.5 meter..Only the crossover filter was > 1 kg..

3 * 30 CM  woofer
3 midrange , 4 tweeters..

And they are gone with the  Ex-wife..Including the system

Oooh, that's a bit rough. Not so bad when "it's only money", but something I'd put blood, sweat and tears in to would have been defended to the last. :(

VW's 4motion all-wheeel-drive system will also be available with the 3.6 VR6 and would be a worthwhile addition to ensure getting power down effectively, particularly if you live in a snowbelt region.

It's an option? :o

Life wouldn't be much fun with FWD, "snowbelt" or not, especially with a limiter at 135. Would barely have stopped wheelspinning by then ;D
