There is no such thing as a tappet on a V6 Omega

I expect he thinks a hydraulic lifter is a bit noisy from cold, but on a well maintained V6, it's more likely to be the exhaust manifold as Dave says..

Mine had a rattly lifter from cold when it had benefitted from 40k of VX 20k service intervals.

It's fine now it gets 4-6k oil changes.

its the shockingly long drive and lack of service history that's put me off, especially when a 3.0 has popped up less 10 miles from me, all be it without the kit and alloys, but i might be able to get it for about £800 cheaper, and it has full history and less mileage!

All that kit at £3200 is a bargain and if Mrs EP was in a better frame of mind I would buy now and suffer later
