Cheers buddy !

Anyone have advice on the ECU ?

Hi all.

Have a few issues to resolve on my facelift 2.5 V6 Elite, before it goes for MOT.

ABS and TC light now mainly on, with no speedo and heavy steering, which usually points to be the ABS ECU......which I believe is a pig to replace. However, I used to get a Low Beam FLD Vision warning, but this only appears now, when the speedo is working and the ABS/TC light isn't lit.

I can't see that the self-levelling lights are linked to a speed sensor, or the ABS ECU, so am wondering why this anomoly occurs. :-?

If it needs a new ABS ECU, but I can't get one cheaply, I'm toying with wiring the ABS light to the oil pressure light, to get through the MOT............but need to know how I get the Instrument binnacle out first. Have removed Senator clocks before, but not on Omegas, so any advice/tips welcomed. :y

Cheers.

Rob

The only model to have shelf mounted speakers is the Elite as it has the Bose system with 2 6" bass drivers there.

My CDX has shelf-mounted speakers. Haven't looked to see if there's an amp in there yet though !

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / CD changer wiring route
« on: 17 June 2007, 22:50:16 »
Hi All.

Am wanting to change the standard set up to my Pioneer head and changer. Is it worth pulling out the old changer wiring or just running the new one alongside ? i.e. is there room for both ?

Also, what route does the O/E wiring take and are there any awkward bits I need to know about.

Have fited kit to plenty of Cavs, but never an Omega, so need some reassurance !

Cheers.

So do the speaker cables run to the bass speakers, then up to the tweeter or to the tweeter and down to the bass unit ?

On the Cav, I just disconnected the door speakers, although I'm not sure whether the grilles in each corner of the dash actually ever had tweeters behind them.

Am trying to get my TIS2000 working, without success at the moment, so can't access wiring details ! >:(

Head unit is Pioneer 7020. Infinity 6500's have 90mm magnet and are approx 60mm deep.
Are the front O/E crossovers built into the speaker or is it a seperate unit somewhere ? Would really like to use the 6500's, as they'll only be gathering dust otherwise !

Know what you mean about the Infinity's. I had to enlarge the opening in the door on my cav to get the magnet through (they're the 6500's with the separate X-over and tweeter), a fair bit deeper too, although with the collars on, they shouldn't protrude too far into the door !

Might just try swapping the head unit and amp and powering the sub via the amp for now, if the O/E speakers are as good as you reckon ?!

What's the easiest side to run the wring through (if there is one) ?

Does anyone know what size the rear door speakers are ? I'm advised the fronts are 17cm, which will suit my Component set just fine, but am not sure about the rears.

Anyone fitted 6x9's in the rear shelf ? Seem to remember that cutting any holes in this area is a serious No,No ?!

Omega General Help / Part number needed
« on: 29 May 2011, 21:58:15 »
Need part number for the ABS pump/ECU for a 2000 (W) X25XE Elite.

Need a new one (no speedo/power steering and ABS/TC light on all time) and want to make sure I'm looking for the right one on Flea bay !

Anyone got the parts fiche or EPC ?

Had to get RAC out to tow me to garage. He thought it was out of fuel, as it nearly went when he put a load of cold start down the intake.

Put some fuel in on the way and it started. Was just about to say 'told you so', making me look silly, when it cut out, whilst idling by the pump !

He'd earlier got the same codes and reset, then re-read them again - same story.

Car is now parked outside garage, with copy of receipt for original Crank sensor on seat !

Strangely, I didn't get the 31 code, even though the engine wasn't running.

Have a feeling they've routed the Crank Sensor wiring somewhere iffy, as it's not even 6 months old yet !

As expected, the car didn't start this morning ! Lots of starter motor, but not firing !

Have  done the 'paperclip test, which showed code 19 - Crank Sensor and Code 73 - MAF.

The Crank sensor is still under warranty...............but I need to get it there ! Any ideas on part numbers for the MAF (I've got one number 281002184 - but this shows as being for a 2.6) ?

Don't think the MAF would prevent starting, but may be wrong. Will see if there are any leaks around the MAF, but my money is on the Crank Sensor ........................... again !!!!!

Any other suggestions ?

Must be contageous !

Started mine yesterday morning, no problem. Drove 20 miles, parked up for about an hour, then refused to start (turning over but not firing).

After 5 attempts decided to lock/unlcok doors, just in case the immobiliser was playing silly beggars - it started !

Drove further 30 miles, smooth as silk. Parked up (9th floor in car park). Came back 90 minutes later and wouldn't start, even with unlock/lock attempts. Finally fired after about 20 attempts (was glad, as had payed for car park and only had 15 minutes to leave !

Drove 50 miles home, again smooth as anything. Parked up, left it unlocked. Started okay-ish but then cut out 4 or 5 times within 1 mile - ususally on run-down or idle. Last time took ages to get started, but then ran okay.

Parked up, stopped engine and then re-started, no problem. Left it 30 minutes and it started first time again !!!

Haven't tried it again since. Will see how it is in the morning, although I won't really trust it, even if it does fire, first time !

No EMS lights staying on after starting, so not sure if any codes will be stored. Had new crank sensor less than 6 months ago.

Argghhh. Any suggestions?
