Trump was good for America.  But by alienating the media early on, a 2nd turn was always going to be an uphill struggle...   ...and when Biden picked Harris as running mate, he was clearly going for the left/liberal vote by ticking 2 of the 3 boxes (I dont think she's a carpet muncher?), which in itself has become the majority in many parts of the western world.

Mind you, maybe we should remember that the Nazi party started out calling themselves the Socialist Worker Party of Germany.  So maybe there is still hope in the western world after all.

Not quite correct TB.  It was the National Socialist German Workers’ Party, NSDAP, the "National" bit the subtle difference which meant the individual did not count (unlike usual socialism), the State did, or more importantly the heads of State ruled and were all important. In other words it was a pure dictatorship. ;)

The basis of "usual Socialism, is the "rights" of the many erase the rights of the individual, which is why it never has worked and never will.
It flies in the face of human nature.

In fairness, true socialism has never been tried anywhere.  Mostly because of the human nature bit you point out.

All the Americans I know personally would like Donald to go and opps.off.

Its a small sample size of 8, so may not be representative, but i can't see why anyone would have voted for him so.i guess that there are a similar number who'd have liked him.to stay.

Ed Balls did an interesting programme(s) on the subject a while back. Quite an eye opener.

I suspect only a few voters anywhere vote for principle, fairness, equality and so on. I suspect most vote as their parents did, least bad option and crucially how well off they personally will be. So if Trump got circa 74 million votes he must have offered something.

I think a lot of people vote against what they don't want, rather than for anyone.

Yes but the promises they vote for never come to fruition anyway.

For all the Shermans I have the misfortune to know, seems to be about 50:50.  And quite predictable.  The US is quite secular and vote that way.

But after 8 years of going nowhere but backwards with Obama, Trump was just what they needed.  Unless you were one of those wishy washy liberals who believe the state should bankrupt itself trying to follow the failed New Labour method of suicide.

But being a fully fledged champagne socialist, you're unlikely to actually associate with a Conservative, let alone a Trump supporter ;D
