Jay and Dom
« on: 18 February 2021, 16:04:38 »

Avid upcyclers, on BBC 1 now. Dom is making a coffee table out of an old car tyre and some rope. Clean the tyre, wrap the rope around it, stick some legs and a top on it and, voila, a trendy coffee table.
I wonder where he's going to stick the fire safety label?

I can't believe what the stupid twàt is doing. Imagine a fire downstairs while you're in bed and that fùckin tyre going up. At least you wouldn't burn to death, the black, putrid fumes would kill you in no time.

Someone email the BBC, I'm afraid I might be a bit forthright if I did.

This is not a new idea.

I remember when John Noakes made a 76 floor skyscraper out of old milk bottle tops, on Blue Peter. :)

Ah, yes, of course, silly me. The trivial bit of the post, not the important bit, much like most of the stuff you post.

It's not easy to set  a tyre alight. You'd be dead from the rest of the smoke before the tyre managed to add to the effect.

Well...I wouldn't like to see your opinion tested.

It's based on the recoveries of dozens of burnt out vehicles. It's not uncommon to find a total burnout on inflated tyres.

They don't have rope wrapped around them. Or is rope hard to set fire to?

The cheap blue crap? No.
good quality, tightly wound hemp? Yes.

But anyone who thinks a tyre wrapped in rope is furniture probably gets fed bananas through the mesh cage they live in.

Just rope, don't know what flavour of rope, loosely bound rope with fibres sticking out rope. Whatever the type of rope, it's a stupid, dangerous idea. Defend it if you like.
