D type Jaguar .
« on: 13 April 2021, 16:41:02 »

Drove home from Surrey this morning was passed on the M25 by a stunning looking D type Jaguar in British racing green, whether it was an original or a kit car I really couldn't tell had number 21 on the tailfin , lovely to see vehicles like this being used, even SWMBO commented on it.

I doubt it was a genuine race car from the fifties. They are worth millions.

You never know though... :y :y

The extremely rare XKSS is supposed to be a road-going D-Type.

A neighbour thinks it may have been a Lynx replica , haven't had a chance to investigate yet.

Yep......even a replica ( a good one) can cost £100,000 and more.

It looked absolutely beautiful especially with the sun rising in the distance, wish SWMBO had her phone to hand  to film it such design like that was perfection in my eyes.

I could probably check levels & tyre pressures, that would be my limit..😁

Mechanically there's nothing particularly complicated or even rare; XK engine, Salisbury axle, Moss gearbox, Girling brakes and suspension that's similar to an E-type. It all follows 50s engineering practices. The biggest problem is that some of the parts are very large, as anyone who has worked on an XK will know.

There is no way on earth I would touch anything mechanical on a vehicle of such a high value , in no way would I say that I am mechanically minded I'd leave it to a real expert if I was ever fortunate enough to own one, maybe my lottery numbers will come up tomorrow..😂
