ad blue tank
« on: 27 May 2021, 21:23:50 »

last week i had fun & games with the ad blue tank . urea & engine emission warning were on i took it it to the dealers for initially a diagnostic of which they told me would cost me £90.  i live a hour from the dealers so a courtesy car was provided. they rang me & told me the  ad blue tank / pump were at fault but they asked me to pay for 2 more hours for further examination. they phoned me later to tell me it was the pump. ( which is supplied with the tank ) however there is a manufacturers fault with pump & it would be replaced for free by DS, that was a relief as they cost about a grand.  the original pumps fitted had metal bits that urea rotted & now they have plastic components. all is well now , tested it by a trip from nth yorks to hampshire  :y :y

A lad at work has a ML350 (like mine but in poverty spec  ::)) and his car was showing a fault with the adblue. MB will just replace the whole tank at a cost of around £2k
A search on the web supplied just the adblue heater, which was apparently the actual fault. He fitted it himself at a cost of .... £150  :y :y

If the pump failed due to a manufacturing fault on a nearly new car then they should wave the Diagnostic fee surely  :-\

Ad-blue faults... Your lucky you haven't got Trucks.. £1000 is normally the smallest bill,  Advice for those who have ad-blue, keep tank topped up, and use good quality ad-blue,.
