Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: CCR 2006 - add on changer
« on: 29 January 2008, 21:07:50 »
No, is the simple answer, unless i have missed a couple of connectors at the back of it!

It would have been an unnecessary additonal cost in manufacture as it had the 4cd changer in the main body.

Yes, being a standard aftermarket unit it will have its own display so worry not about that.

Also the improvement in sound quality over the CAR300 that is fitted will be quite noticeable! :)

If you want a step by step guide on how to switch them over, just ask.

Hi and welcome to the site. :)

You have guesed correctly, there is indeed a small amp in the system.
It sits behind the spare wheel in the boot.

This will need to be bypassed to allow your new system to work.

Problem is, I can't remember how you bypass it right now!  :-[

Witout wishing to sound arrogant, I can say with confidence that there is a greter knowledge of all aspects of the Omega here, than will ever be found at Vauxhall. :)

Or put another way....

Ignore what Vx say, if you want the correct answer, ask here!

I have come across people who have used the adaptors for the Corsa with success.

Personally I would go find an Elite and get the 2 front door speakers out and do a straight swap.

As standard speakers they are generally excellent.
If you fit aftermarket ones they will generally need external amplification to sound reasonable (they have stiffer cones that require more power than any headunit will provide regardless of manufacturers claims ;))

Good to hear that phone has been good to you. :)
My N95 has had mixed reviews, but with updated firmware I have found it to be excellent.

Bonus result on the ebay sale too! :)

Ps. If you feel like a change, look at the Sony Ericsson phones, they have some great ones.

Without wishing to make this into a mobile phone review thread I would be cautious about the E65. It has very mixed reviews on useability and relaibility.

It is really a question of what you want and need of the phone.

Only way to get updates is by the nokia sofware checker, and searching the web. There is at least one firmware update at this time.

39
Ahhh another Nokia N series phone that has issues with bluetooth connections.  ::)

All I can suggest is a firmware update. This will address the bluetooth issue sooner or later.

It is a fairly new phone, and the firmware updates will come thick and fast over the next couple of months.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: Philips DCO12 CD changer

The most likely cause is the laser dying as Dave says. The unit will be at least 12yrs old so it will have done well.

No, there is not an alternative I am afraid. You have the choice of changing for another Philips CDC012 (risky) or replacing the headunit for a good quality more modern aftermarket one (which is what I would do as the difference is sound quality is huge!)

As Dave (who knows a heck of a lot more on this subject than me!) says, you need 2 adaptors to do the whole job.

Don't go back to the original headunit, it will be a big step down in sound quality (unless it has a really naff "Soundlab" or other nasty cheap thing in there).

What unit do you have in the car right now?

If you are clicking on a link like that (which does take you to Pohtobucket) and you are being redirected elsewhere then whatever you do, do not input ANY personal data!

Instead run a full virus scan then download and run spy checking software like Ad Aware.

If you are unsure about anything, PM me.

Actually it may well just need the code...

On the pre-facelift models they had a code for the headunit (CCR600, CCRT700) and a seperate code for the cd changer (Blaupunkt CDC2).

Why they had seperate codes for each I am not sure, but it would be the first course of action (remember, always start fault finding with the obvious :) )

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: Psychic ability required. . ?

I think Marks DTM Calib is the deity of choice here ;)

Taking the unit out is pretty straightforward using the extraction tools which you can buy from Halfords for around £3. The look like 2 "U" shaped pieces of metal.

As Etwood has said, the details are clearly visible on the top of the unit without having to remove it fully.

I have no doubt that Dave would be able to sort it, but I would be careful about sending the units through the post as the front panel can detach from the main body of the unit rather too easily (the retaining clips are flimsy).
If that happens then you have a whole new set of problems.

Personally I would go for an aftermarket unit.

Ok you lose the display in the MID but you gain a better headunit (assuming you choose sensibly and go for Alpine/Pioneer/Kenwood etc)

The Vx units are totally overpriced for what they are.
