thanks for the info.
going to change the fob anyway as my current one is a bit worn, hence thought the new one will be worth a try. will let you know how it goes.

Omega internals don't really fit those flip keys, plus no boot button if you have a facelift.

that would be a shame, my ones are estates so no boot button to worry about, anyone tried to fit the internals?

800kg  :D Thats handy to know as its about the weight of your average Cow  :D

as heavy as a cow! I'll keep that in mind there's a few fields round where I live.

Just to bring this up to date it had no problem with the original slabs.
Then last week when I was at Jewsons I bought a paving pack (12m sq of limestone slabs - 800 kg) which they loaded into the back of the Omega using the forklift truck.
It only just fitted in 9they said it wouldnt) and with most of the weight over the rear axle it really had it laden down (but still manageable!).

800 kg!

So I just took is nice and easy on the run home was fine but wouldnt recommend doing it again!

thanks for the replies so far good info.

Thanks for all the advice. :y

The lights have stayed off all week apart from once when I was doing 70. It seems that the lights only come on when going fast.

Does this narrow the problem down at all?

when the ABS ECU starts to fail its an intermitant fault and then eventually you have no speedo of all the time, ABS sensors can be similar, fingers crossed your 2nd hand ECU is ok, if not (as previously stated) send it to ECU Testing Ltd for a refubd £130 or BBA £180 both plus vat.

my swop question is similar, fitting a 3.2 to a 2.6,
could the 3.2 be used and keep the existing 2.6 gearbox?
Yes in the short term, although if the 2.6 is an auto, then it's probably an AR25, which the 3.2 will eventually destroy :-\

Ideally you need an AR35 from the get go, electronically the same, but stronger internals :y

Same applies if it's a manual... R25/R30 :y

Thanks Al.
Yes its an auto.
It wont get used much so would take a chance on the g/box surviving the new engine.
Anyone breaking a 3.2 and have a good engine available?

how easy to fit a 3.0 or 3.2 in place of a 2.6, what bits would I need off the donor car to make this work, anyone tried it?

Omega General Help / Re: ABS ECU replacement - before and after
« on: 28 March 2014, 16:14:10 »
thanks for suggestions it does feel like no servo will check this.
the abs will work but only on a wet road with full force on the brakes (ie more force you would normally apply for an emergency stop).

Omega General Help / ABS ECU replacement - before and after
« on: 27 March 2014, 20:57:41 »
Finally got round to fixing the ABS ecu on my 3.0 Elite and now its back on, the speedo works, no abs lights on, but the brake pedal is still really numb - it takes a good shove to get them to work.

My question is when the ABS ecu has failed does it make the brakes poor?

When I bought this Omega I knew it needed the ABS ecu repaired, so its always had poor brakes, but I was expecting the brake efficiency to be back to normal now its been replaced.

I have another omega so I know how the brakes should feel, but this is far from it has a long brake pedal and you need to stand on the brakes to make them work.

anyone able to help me repair this local to Woking/Twickenham/guildford?

My V6 Elite is doing its best efforts to get scrapped, first the ABS ecu needed done and now its the auto gearswtich playing up.
I am doing my best to keep it alive! Can anyone help me either fix the existing swtichor swap for a good one switch?
I've read the link on how to do it and dont fancy doing this myself.
