General Discussion Area / Finally got my hospital appointment...
« on: 15 March 2013, 16:17:22 »
...for my 6 week follow-up after January's treatment (due this week) :-X :-X

May 3rd >:( >:( >:( FFS... If it had been looked at 6 weeks ago and not this week I might have had an appointment soon ::) ::)

It's a joke... It's now 36 weeks since I was referred (30 weeks to any treatment) and if he turns around and says he needs another CT/MRI scan because they're 6 months old I will be forced to tell him exactly what I think of his department's organisational skills and lodge a complaint ::)

That's better... Had a rant now :y :y

... sit around the corner and wait for you to go out? >:( >:( >:(

TNT called about 5 minutes after I went out to walk the dog ::) ::)

I wouldn't mind but the only thing I'm expecting is my new mattress and the call centre have confirmed it's 40Kgs so could well be it ::) Just a shame... Would have been really nice to have it for the weekend!

General Discussion Area / Surely this can't be right?
« on: 15 March 2013, 09:07:16 »
Before I start I must say that, although my back treatment is moving too slowly, I think the NHS is generally very good :y I should also add that I'm a big believer that the NHS should be "scrapped" and rearranged as a compulsory insurance scheme with assessed government funding as per most of Europe ;)

Anyway... Moving on to what I want to say! I don't read the Daily Fail but this is a link I have picked up elsewhere. There are several local papers carrying the story too and the cause has been featured on local TV and radio news programmes today.

I want to add that I do have a tentative connection to the family... I went to the same school as Steve (Sam's father), although not at the same time. Steve made an appeal on Monday night for help and they have raised in excess of £2k for the cause in the 24 hours since the accounts were set up :y :y The power of social media is phenomenal and this is really gathering momentum :y

Anyway... I'm rambling! What I am shocked at is that because Sam turned 16 in January the NHS have told the family that it is unlikely they will fund his treatment but had he been under 16 they probably would have! :o :o Talk about age discrimination, even though it is against the NHS Constitution >:( >:( Who has the right to decide that a young man should face almost certain death just because he is 60 days older than 16 >:( >:(

This isn't a plea for donations or sympathy, although I know the family will be very grateful if you feel you would like to donate, but more to highlight the disgusting treatment (or lack of it!) that they are receiving from the NHS >:( :'( Surely this is wrong? ??? OK, I started by saying the NHS should be "scrapped" but, at present, it isn't and anyone can come in from anywhere in the EU and get free treatment  :o Something wrong there IMHO ::)

General Discussion Area / Possibly need a new laptop...

... and considering Business Leasing for a few good reasons. But the question is...

... Do I go Mac or stay PC? :-\ :-\

Also need to look at getting SWMBO a new lappy as her screen has packed up... I think it might be graphics driver overheating as it kind of hisses and flashes up for a second or 2 before going off :-\ :-\

Perhaps lease 2 PC's for not dissimilar prices to the Macbook Air :-\ :-\

... give a true report ;D ;D ;D

Finally managed to get my mate from down the road down and he and I have re-sited my dish (and also fitted a 60cm instead of 45cm) to a 10' pole in the back garden. Now that there is clear line of sight over the trees in front of the house we have a perfect, strong, high quality signal :y :y

Can finally see some of the HD channels, or SD channels come to think of it, that we have never been able to receive since having sky installed in 2005 :o :o

Not the fault of Sky though... The signal was always going to be weak because of the trees and they wouldn't do the specialist installation that was needed and has now been done :y :y

I might be able to enjoy TV a little more now ;D ;D

1 cup sugar, 1 tsp. baking powder, 1 cup water, 1 tsp. salt , 1 cup brown sugar, Lemon juice, 4 large eggs, Nuts, 1 bottle Vodka,2 cups dried fruit.

Take a large bowl, check the Vodka again to be sure it is of the highest quality then Repeat.
Turn on the electric mixer.
Beat one cup of butter in a large fluffy bowl.
Add 1 teaspoon of sugar. Beat again.

At this point, it is best to make sure the Vodka is still OK.
Try another cup just in case.
Turn off the mixerer thingy.
Break 2 eegs and add to the bowl and chuck in the cup of dried fruit.
Pick the fruit up off the floor, wash it and put it in the bowl a piece at a time trying to count it.
Mix on the turner.
If the fried druit getas stuck in the beaterers, just pry it loose with a drewscriver

Sample the Vodka to test for tonsisticity.

Next, sift 2 cups of salt, or something.

Check the Vodka.

Now shit shift the lemon juice and strain your nuts.
Add one table.
Add a spoon of sugar, or somefink. Whatever you can find.
Greash the oven.
Turn the cake tin 360 degrees and try not to fall over.
Don't forget to beat off the turner.
Finally, throw the bowl through the window.

Finish the Vodka and wipe the counter with the cat.
