Just popping in again.  Thanks for the welcomes!  Happy New Year all.  What a strange time we're going through?  I hope everyone's coping as best they can?  I'm just browsing through the forum and I'm amazed at the amount of information here.  Someone's (Jimbob?) put some serious effort in to link all those guides in the maintenance section.  Keep up the good work chaps!

Ballasts are probably shot.  Swap them from left to right to see if the problem swaps but they'll probably need replacing anyway.  I'm guessing they're expensive though?

Jeez.  That boot mod was perfectly good.  Honest.  I had many happy modders snipping away at that thin red wire!

Wow!  It's been over 10 years since I frequented this fantastic forum.
I dropped in and on the off-chance tonight, entered my password and it worked!  When I had my Omega back in 2006-2010, this forum was an absolute goldmine of information and friendly banter.  I've been looking through the posts and there are a few names I recognise from when we moved to this new forum in 2006.  It's great to see that there's still interest in the Omegas.  They are getting rare now but I still see one every so often and remember the fun I had with mine, messing about with electrics and particularly audio installs.
If it's OK with everyone, I'd like to pop in from time to time?  I may even remember a few tips to pass on?  Great to 'see' you guys again!

Don't know if it's been mentioned.

There's very little room behind the headunit for adaptors.

I fitted an ISO extender in mine, but it would be difficult if it was any bigger.

Good luck with that adaptor Tunnie!

I have the blind socket too.  I like the idea of fiiting the blind, then writing rude things on it with a marker pen, such as "I think you may have given a false indication" or "I regret to inform you that you appear to be a moron".  It could be unfurled to reveal the message as appropriate.

I've never had a car that doesn't do this!

Just a small square of Velcro should do it.

Sunglasses seem to stay in place quite well, but anything with a bit of weight, like an iPod or phone or a handful or Werthers will fall out.

I remember going through this.
There are no double DIN adaptors.  In fact, I could only find the one type made by Autoleads which all retailers sell.

I don't like it at all.  That annoying 'cubby' slot at the bottom is useless for most things.  If you do find a use for it, the object you're stowing will shoot out onto the floor if you pull away too hard.  (And I'm talking about a 2.2 here!)

It's a pain you had to go through that hassle Mark.

Becker does look very 'standard fit' as the buttons and backlight match.  Just a shame about the adaptor.

Edit:  Forgot to add.  Mexico Pro requires preout adaptor (£30), as it doesn't have standard phono sockets on the back.

Same applies as above.

Thermostat is dead.  You need a new pad I'm afraid.

But don't use it, or you may start a fire!

I'm pretty certain you'll have to remove the seat and bottom cover to inspect and test the mat.

New ones are very expensive, but they do come up on Ebay occasionally.

I have got instructions 'somewhere' to remove leather covers.  I'll try and dig them out.  Unless anyone else can tell you.

By the way, before you disconnect any airbags, disconnect the battery first and wait a minute.

It's probably the integral thermostat in the mat.  I guess it switches both mats.  However, when this goes, it normally fails switched on, causing the mat to overheat and potentially a fire!

First check for voltage at the connectors under the seat.  Compare with the other side with the settings the same.  (Don't unplug the airbags accidently, if you have them).

The connector will look something like this.

The airbag connectors are the outside yellow pair.  The heater mat wires are the centre four, I believe.

Are they leather seats?

Most likely culprit is the heater mat or thermostat.

Is it the seat base or back, or both that don't work?

They can be very stiff.

See my short guide here.
