2.5 td egr valve hoses-where do they go?
« on: 01 February 2011, 06:18:05 »

As per title really.
The egr valve on my 2.5 td has 2 hoses coming off it.
the one hose goes to the filter thing on the bulkhead but the other hose-seems open to atmosphere which I'm thinking looks a bit wrong.
Anyone know where it should go?
 Thanks in advance

IIRC that's correct, the very early cars (or perhaps it was totally random) have a single-nipple EGR valve, the later cars have a two-nipple EGR valve on which only one is used (technically one nipple opens the valve, the other would close it if it were connected)

It does indeed vent to atmosphere. ;)

I've connected a length of tubing to mine (and several others) and clipped the tube down behind the rad.
Any muck then get's dropped below, and doesn't get blown around the engine bay by the viscous fan!
