General Discussion Area / No quiz this week.
« on: 26 July 2008, 19:20:55 »
Loo-Knee has asked me to post on his behalf.
Unfortunately there will not be a quiz tonight as Daz is busy following a recent bereavement in his family.
He says the quiz will be run as usual next Saturday night.

clicky
Apparently he managed to saw into an 11KV live cable.
Has caused chaos at work 3 lighting gen sets hired in, our depot running on the backup genny in the yard this morning which has subsequently died so who knows what kind of mess tomorrow morning will bring if they can't get the generator running again.

General Discussion Area / Saturday afternoon joke
« on: 31 May 2008, 15:57:01 »
A big mining company recently hired several cannibals. "You are all
part of our team now", said the HR manager during the welcoming
briefing. "You get all the usual benefits and you can go to the
cafeteria for something to eat, but please don't eat any of the other employees".

The cannibals promised they would not.

Four weeks later their boss remarked, "You're all working very hard, and I'm satisfied with you. However, one of our Admin girls has disappeared. Do any of you know what happened to her?"

The cannibals all shook their heads indicating "no".

After the boss had left, the leader of the cannibals said to the
others, "Which one of you idiots ate the Admin girl?"

A hand rose hesitantly, to which the leader of the cannibals
continued, "You fool!!!!! For four weeks we've been eating Managers and Supervisors and no one noticed anything, but noooooo, you had to go and eat someone who actually works!!!!"

General Discussion Area / Pictures of the wishbone change.
« on: 25 May 2008, 17:53:32 »
Done the near side today and I thought I'd take some pics to help those are thinking of doing theirs.

All stripped down ready for a new one

This is where the back bush goes.

and the front.

Couple of blurry shots of where the ball joint and pinch bolt fit.

Headlight level sensor up out of the way.

This is what it fits onto.

New wishbone ready to be fitted.

Tools that make the job much easier. Windy gun, breaker bar,

Ball joint splitter to remove track rod end without damage and a big can of plus gas.

Grafting away as usual.

We found offering up the wishbone from this angle made it easier to get the bush into place.

Back bolt going in.

Now for the front bush.

Wishbone fitted.

Level sensor replaced.

Nearly finished now.

Job done, just fit the wheel and then torque up both of the bolts.

General Discussion Area / Well that's one side done, finally.
« on: 24 May 2008, 21:01:46 »
Wishbone that is.
Job wasn't that bad apart from a couple of breaks to buy more tools. First off call at machine mart and buy a big torque wrench and a blowlamp just in case.
Get back, jack up car wheel off to find we ain't got a 21mm socket.
Wheel back on try Hellfrauds, they're out of stock so back to MM and buy a set of impact sockets for the 21mm.
Job goes well (both nuts come off with the windy gun) apart from the usual struggle with the back bush, then we come to torque up the bushes.
Oops were going to need 2 sockets for the ratchet and torque wrench.
WALK  :( to the nearest car shop who have any size of socket availible bar 21mm.
Met up with an old mate in the shop and after a bit of a chat we come up with using a 21mm spark plug socket.
Back home and wonders will never cease the plug socket idea works.
Back on the ground and torqued up. Front bolt was a pig so tighten up as best and check it over my mates pit next week.
So its the drivers side done and the passenger side to do in the morning, hopefully without any more trips out for tools.

General Discussion Area / The Bat
« on: 14 May 2008, 22:54:06 »
This one bat returned from a long hard day's work of collecting
blood. Upon his return to the bat cave, he proceeded to hang from
his perch whereupon a group of his friends noticed the blood from
around his mouth.

They approached him and continually badgered him to tell the
others where he got that blood.  Although he was exhausted,
he finally agreed to show the other bats where he got the
blood under the condition that the other bats would leave him
alone. They all agreed. So, the bat left the cave and with
him flew all of the other bats.  The flew through the valley,
and over the bushes.  The flew around the rocks and past the hills.

Finally the one bat stopped by this one particular tree which
stuck out sharply from the side of a hill and waited for the other
bats to catch up to him.  As he and his fellow bats hovered
in front of the tree,  he asked,

"Ok all you bats.  Do you see this sharp edged tree?"

and they all responded in unison, "Yes?"

Then the bat responded..."Well, I didn't."

General Discussion Area / Wondered what the rattle was.
« on: 10 May 2008, 18:27:53 »

The above fell out of the ns cat which seems to have expired, luckily I had a spare pair in me shed so along with a cat back VX exhaust system theyve been fitted today.
Kept the gnome out of mischief ;D.
He's now changing the leds in the feet of his pc case, better that than hanging around on a street corner getting into trouble.

General Discussion Area / Replacement springs
« on: 17 April 2008, 17:09:57 »
Anyone know of a source for rear springs for the self levelling setup on the elite?
Tried buypartsbuy and lmf and it seems they can only supply genuine VX at £189+ vat a pair.
Would be nice to find a cheaper supplier if poss.
TIA
