Did anyone see this on Sunday night on BBC2?
I'm surprised no one has mentioned it.
I didn't realise they were showing it on TV as I thought it was going to be on at the cinemas, so I only caught about the second half, but I thought it was amazing. Just amazing!
For those who don't know what I'm on about. Peter Jackson the director of Lord Of The Rings, colourised and digitally remastered footage from the Western Front in WW1 and made a 90 minute film with it, complete with a sound track of recollections from veterans recorded by the BBC during the 1970's and 80's
What a fantastic job he did as well.
So good that at first I thought it was reenactments with actors, until I realised what I was watching.
It really brought a slice of grainy grey history to life, and it's not often I sit and watch the credits, but at the very end it said
Shot on location at the Western Front 1914 - 1918. Very humbling, moving and thought provoking.
