My lad has just bought an 07 Suzuki swift from a private seller and one rear brake is really binding. Anyone any knowledge or experience of these? Guessing its a standard lead/trail shoe arrangement and handbrake adjuster via the cable length?

I am not sure but if its the GTI it has discs. :-\

Nope, it's 1.3 'attitude' aka gti wannabe with rear drums. :y

Chuck in the reg. on Eurocarparts and look for shoes. if no shoes then its discs. quick look on the smallest engine (1.3) seems like it is shoes though.
I'm thinking that rust inside couldbe the issue? :-\

Quite so Andy. :y. Will get it stripped out at earliest convenience, just asking the masses in case there is a wee Japanese gotcha lurking in the background. ;D

There a standard setup, same as Corsa and numerous others.
Auto adjusters on these work very well IF the handbrake cable is set correctly (unlike bloody Ford and Transit ones grrrr).
What I dont recall is the drum removal method, its probably the usual remove dust cap and big hub nut but something in my mind recalls removing the hub securing bolts from the rear of the backplate (ala Focus)
