Bottas still has a drive at Merc?

My great aunt Florence would be quicker.

Battle between Hamilton and Verstappen. If one of them has a big car advantage they will win.
If the cars are pretty equal Hamilton will win.
Thats my prediction.

I would love to see Lando Norris (I think his name is - Took Hamiltons seat when he had covid)  end up in the top 3 at least.

He surprised quite a few, Just like Lewis did in his 1st year. :y

When in the lower categories he wasnt a match for George Russell.

Funnily enough I was about to start a thread on runners and riders but decided against it as they usually get hijacked each year by F1 haters.

Agree with Lewis and Max being the front runners. Even though Bottas has once again reinvented himself 4.0 ?  I suspect he will be a number2 again. Perez might just surprise.

Alonso quick out of the box and usual good starter.

Honda engine may surprise.

Sainz to be as fast as Leclerc

Williams to score points

The rookie Japanese driver to surprise us.

The Russian driver, Marzipan! To keep us entertained by off track and on track exploits

Vettel- will he beat his team mate?

For non subscription tv, is it delayed race on Channel4?

Another to keep an eye on is young Mick Schumacher

To me Kimi Rδikkφnen ought to try another of the motor sports.

Young Mick seems a chip off the old block in some respects. His fellow drivers have complained about dirty tactics and dangerous driving, and other teams have complained that they cant understand how his mediocre car suddenly became much faster than every other car on the track half way through the season.  ::)
His name was always going to get him into F1. Time will tell whether or not he deserves it.

The evidence so far hints that the Honda power unit has quite an advantage over the Mercedes unit.
Things could be interesting this season.  :)

I know it is not possible but I would love to see the drivers (at their peak) from the sixties and seventies against the new drivers, in the same car(s)

They wouldn't stand a chance...... much the same as the 'new' drivers wouldn't stand a chance in the 60's/70's cars.

Yes, but I think that old drivers could adapt to the new technology given time, and that new drivers (if their balls are big enough) could adapt to driving on the ragged edge in something that could quite easily kill them if they crash.

Overall I think the old drivers would come out on top because they would just need to 'relearn' power, speed, acceleration, grip levels which would soon become second nature to them.

New drivers would need to overcome the fear they could very well die in a wall of fire. This is the harder thing to overcome and I'm not sure many current F1 drivers would really be up for it.

Just like learning anything....... depends on how much time you allow.

You are basically asking a Cessna 152 Pilot to captain an A320.  The basics of flying are there, but the controls are a whole different ball-game.

Well they certainly won't be able to learn it all in an hour or two.......but give the 25 year old Jim Clark a couple of months to adapt and he'd be up to speed.

Adapting (willing) to lose your life in a 1965 Lotus made of old crisp packets is much harder to learn.

I agree. Talent is talent.  :y
Although years ago Schumacher had a run in Villeneuves old Ferrari from late 70.s / early 80,s and got out saying he wouldnt push it because it was a death trap.
He was a woose though. ;D

O.388 to find for Hamilton. No time at all when you are waiting for a bus but quite a lot in F1.

Yep......it will be interesting. :y

Vettel has been called before the Stewards for ignoring double waved yellows in qualifying.
Didnt leave his attitude at Ferrari when he left then.  :D

They'd have a job putting him much further back on the grid.

Yes it was good to see a nailbiting  final 10 or so laps. Lewis used all his experience and intelligence, and Max got a little over excited as he often does.
He is a great prospect, but he isnt quite the full package yet.
Its looking like it could be a very competitive season. The Red Bull looks seriously fast.

Young Shumacher is definitely a chip off the old block. He had a moan about the fireworks at the end of the race being irritating because he was still on his last lap.
It reminded me of a passage in Prof. Sid Watkins book about his many years as F1 official Doctor.
Schumacher had quite a big accident in the Benetton and the medical car went out and picked him up . Its normal practice to talk to the driver on the way back to the medical centre to try and gauge if they are ok.
As soon as he sat in the car Schumacher said "you have A/C switched on yes ?" The good Doc confirmed this to be correct.
Schumacher said "it upsets my nose, turn it off."
The Doctors looked at each other and mumbled, "not much wrong with him is there".  ;D

Hamilton was in the slower car on older rubber, and managed to hold the whippersnapper off, so credit where it is due.

If he can drop the victim laden BLM crap he'll be the complete package.

As a driver, he is the complete package.
The other stuff is his personal beliefs, which although I dont always agree with, I believe comes from a genuine desire to use his position for good, rather than just personal gain.
Whether we agree or not with what he does, I dont doubt his life would be easier and less complicated if he didnt bother with any of it and just lived the archetypal F1 playboy lifestyle.

I watched the Lauda V Hunt battle from 1976. These two really were polar opposites. I imagine James Hunt had far more fun though. :y

You don't get drivers like Hunt in F1 these days.

Currently putting a lot of his money into the charitable foundation he set up last year.
