I've had to put my GLS wheels back on .. well... the GLS, so it can be sold

The Elite wheels are now back on the Elite.. 2 x nearly new pirelli 6000 tyres, 2 x nearly bold tyres!

So I need 2 x tyres, size 225 55 ZR16 99W

Recommendations? Being an N reg, high miler project car, the cheaper the better

I bet the 3.0l needs W or Z

Its a fast powerful car, so would consider premium brands. If its was a 2.0, I may consider mid range, even decent budget...

I would class Avon as good midrange or cheap premium - kinda falls between the 2.  They will be fine

Same size as mine and I use Pirelli P7's - £85 fitted each.  Goodyear Eagle F1's available for the same price give or take a couple of quid.

But mine are V's..so expect a small premium for W's

I used Goodyear Eagle F1's for a few years, but have changed to Michelin Primacy and am impressed with them, especially in the wet.

www.camskill.co.uk is where i go for my Avons as they are £68 each delivered, but for some strange reason the 16" version are more expensive than the 17" ones??

They are doing Falken 'W' rated tyres for less than £70

Was that the MV6?

Technically, it was the driver who drove the car beyond the limits of the car (inc tyres) and driver ability level in those particular conditions , but I agree, and like a better tyre.  I also like a tyre that gives feedback when approaching the limit...

And I find Michelins bad.......cant wait to get rid of the ones on the back of mine.

Yes it was, just let go suddenly at around 50mph and the back would not grip at all, found out good in the wet bad elsewhere.

The Michelins fitted to the 2.6 (when I bought it) wear a lot better and grip better, and are more progressive, ie I can take them to limit and recover (playing somewhere safe), whereas cheap tyres just seem to let go.

I suppose proof is I can corner the CD2.6 harder than I could the MV6 and feel safer.
