Cold callers.

Sat waiting for Sky to come fix my Sky Q

Phone call from Burnley (Suspected scam) thought it could be Sky.
Foreign voice - couldnt understand a word, when repeated sounded like 3 mobile ofering me a discount.  I said I would rather have an improved service, they hung up.

Another cold caller.  Solor panels offer . told him I live in a tent.

Wonder who will ring next?

I'm quite happy with my SKY+ box, but they keep contacting me to 'upgrade' to SKY Q

I was, but after hearing the benefits, I changed to Sky Q

Can record 3 channels at the same time  - so they told me.
Search facillies are better. etc.

If you lose the remote you can press a button on the box and the remote will buzz.  (used that facility a few times)

A lot better box all round. :y

It never belongs to us as the old boxes did.
Cant use the old box as a 2nd unit  so I was told.

I got it dor £20 a month so no complaints from me. :y

Sky Q still uses the dish to receive the broadcast stuff, internet for download/catch up.  Sky Stream/Glass is the one that is all pulled from the internet.

So that means anything that I have on a streaming basis rather than live I can continue with.

To be honest I would prefer to watch it all like that, as when its downloaded most of it is advert free. :y

SKY

I have Sky Q and all was well yesterday, I had company from lunch time till late, I put the tv on see a message saying I cound not watch tv as there was no signal.

Recorded stuff I have on the HDD isnt affescted, so watched that .

Sundays I catch up with the stuff I had recorded during the week. never tried ringing Sky as I was also busy in the back ground.

Todays scheduled programs failed to record as predicted.

So jobs done, chill time, Logged into Sky, up pops the virtual assistant, ran through the yes/no questions, last one asking if the problem was resolved = NO

Virtual assistant will now only focus on a mobile sim issue - DOH I dont have one with sky.

To me the cable has worn through with all the wind and snapped as they are never fitted properly ro start with.
Sky Q works off the internet as far as I know, so if you're talking about the cable from the dish.......... :-\

I thought the same.  If I open the menu screen I occasionally have to wait for WiFi to connect, have had small issues waiting for it to connect,

But the error message says no signal, so I just have to wait,  I had a 2nd (older box ) in my bedroom and the cable from the roof to where it goes through the wall snapped and looks like a dog had chewed through it.

Just a waiting game.

A lot of the bigger supermarkets sell various bottle beers ,you could do him a selection  :-\

Brilliant Idea - Thankyou. :y

I can thoroughly recommend Badgers. :y  :y

Assuming he isn't into them purely as a "look at me" type, craft beers can vary so widely I'd go with a good selection from multiple breweries :y

Not in the slightest, He built a home office and enjoys a drink after work is complete when he is online gameing.

Thought Kraft made cheese ?  :D

Mabe I would have found them in the online shopping sites if I couls spell proper. :y

Schoolboy games of who can piss the highest up a wall are but a very distant memory

Last time I was in Aberdeen (1977) I went out for a drink with my Nan and her neighber to thier usual Friday night venue that was/is a converted light house.

I was on lager they were drinking Barley Wine (Not sure if it was callad Gold Label) but appartently its quite strong.

So kicking out time we set off walking home, theres me all over the place and the ladies no where worse for drink of 12 Barley Wines each.  We were surrounded by ply wood walls as the area was being develped.

All of a sudden I needed to pee, my Nan said go for it as she had seen it all before.

So ther there I am writeing my name in 2 foot tall letters in the middle of the road with my back to them.  My Nan nips into her handbag, whips out the camera, takes a flipping picture of me in action.

I am 6 foot tall and the "Golden" highlights look like I was aiming 2 feet above my head and 6 feet in front of.

I asked my Nan why she took the piture.  All she said was it was for Bragging Rights :y

I pay full whack for Prime and, in my opinion, it's well worth it. I get about three free next day deliveries a week and I make good use of Prime Video.
Handmaids Tale takes some getting through, 5 seasons of it.

I cant complain, opted out a few times

General Car Chat / Re: Its That Time of Year Again - Breakdown Cover
« on: 12 December 2023, 21:12:02 »
You need to see their small print before you buy, because many of them have a very different idea of what constitutes a breakdown, recovery, potential repair, nearby garage or even just answering your phone call than you do. The less you pay p/a, the bigger that difference is. You can get an example of the actual service provided by the cheaper firms by smashing your head against the roughest brick wall you can find until you can't feel the pain.

I totally agree, the reasoning is to get the AA to drop renewal costs, they will favour a new customer price wise rather than respect people who have stayed with them for years.

All companies are the same, Broaband, Sky etc
