Omega Electrical and Audio Help / ABS / TC Lights coming on - no Speedo

HI,

My friend has a 2.6 elite, and drives fine with no lights, then every now and again the ABS & TC light comes on the speedo stops working...

Any one have any ideas??

Here we go then !!!!

Then I shall Begin !!!

I shall start from the begining, Just bought a Omega 2.0 CD, 1995, not the best one out there, but it was cheap, and have always wanted one. Not got alot of dosh, so am restoring it on the cheap as I can basis. When i first got it, it would not tick over, kept stalling, so i cleaned all the breather pipes and the throttle body, so that is all A OK now.
Next thing i have to do is the central locking, it doesnt work. I dont have Key fobs or buttons on keys, just a standard key. I tried fusues, no problem, went to locate the control unit under footwell (drivers Side) its not there, just wires with a plug on it, assuming its gone walkies. Now I have found out the part number from Vauxhall (905 110 61), but they want £145.00 for it, and a lot more to put it in, he says it will have to be registered with the ECU, then started going on about why it was taken out, there may be a immobiliser fault, or alarm fault, if i plug one in myself then it could start a whole host of problems. All i want is to turn the key and all four doors lock. There is a guy on ebay whom has one for £15.00.

What do you think?

Do you think maybe it would be easier to leave the control unit out, and get a seperate third party alarm central locking unit and install this???

I dont know what to do !!!!

Hi All, I am new here, have said hi in the new bit, Now for a question, I have just purchased a Omega 2.0ltr 16v Ecotech Saloon in met blue, the central locking did not work when purchased, i have read around, what i have read is that there is a control box in the drivers footwell, had a look, nothing there just wires with a plug on it, assuming it should be there, is there any reason why this may have been removed, can i just get one and plug it in? wil one from any Omega fit?

Omega General Help / Heating..... What Heating???? HELP!!!

When I got in the car for the past 2 days there has been no heating............

Well i will go into more detail......

It takes about 15 mins to warm up, then if i put the fan on the heat lasts for about 2 mins then goes cold, with both of the dials on hot.

When turning the selector switch to feet, mid or windscreen it makes a SSSsssshhhhhh noise so there is vac there.

Its cold now, and my little feeties need some heat...  

any one got any ideas, on what i can check?

Omega General Help / Paper Clip Code 73 - Any Help???

Hi again All,

I have noticed over the last 2 days the EML has been coming on, done the test got code 73 which i believe is the MAF.  

Now, its not on all the time, it comes on when i shove my foot down to overtake, then stays on, but if i put her into 'N' switch off the engine and restart it goes off again. and stays off till the next time i put my foot down.  :-?

Also, the car has started to be a wee bit lumpy on running and idle, is this because of the MAF???

Also, when going into kickdown it seems to hesitate, drops down back up the down and off it goes, related too?

You boys n gals on here know youre stuff, any more info needed then do ask!!!  

I will mention that there is a bit of a blow on the exhaust manifold (pass Side) gasket, will be getting this done as soon as it is affordable, could this be related to the problem, i thought not as its incoming air that the maf sensors, and the manifold is outgoing.

Omega General Help / Auto Box when Cold Hesitant shifting

Hi,

When i first start the car and drive in the mornings, it will not change to second until it warms up, usually by the time i get to the end of the road 3/4 mile.

Is fine any other time, just first thing, Any ideas??

Omega General Help / No Heat from Blowers !!! HELP!!!

Any Ideas???

I get slightly warm but thats it....

The AirCon is not as cold as it could be either, but this might need regassing....

The rear multiram not working either, could it be related, I have checked MDTM's diagram and all seems as it should..

Where can I start???  Not to knowledgeable under the 2.5 bonnet, so descriptive responses would be most appreciated,

Omega General Help / Cruise control not working ????

Hi, I have only just got this car, the guy i bought it from said the cruise control just stopped working one day, I have checked the fuse, which is the same one as the reverse lights, and they work, so it's not that.

Any ideas anyone??

Omega General Help / 2-4-6 Manifold

I have a 2.5 V6, thought the manifold gasket was blowing, a mechanic has said it is the manifold cracked, he says he can get me one for £255 plus 4 hours labour at £50ph, so just under £500.

Is this a bit high?

I can get another manifold from ebay or here maybe, How difficult is it to fit?

Anyone interested in fitting one, if I cant???

Hi, Not had the car long few probs, cruise not working, multirams not working, all ok otherwise, thought i would try the old paperclip test anyway, see what it had to say...

Came up with the code 144

Immobiliser no signal apparently, anything exciting you think???

Omega General Help / V6 2.5 Slow Problem

Hi, Just bought a 2.5 V6 CDX Auto, Have been driving it for a few days now, but it seems quite slow, thought it was just because it was more comfy and quiet than my 2.0 Manual i have. So i jumped back in the 2.0 and had a go, the 2.0 is deffinatley more responsive and faster, pull away and top end.

What could this be?

PS. Its just the same with the sports buttton on, the button does give a higher rev range so is working.

Omega General Help / Unplugged plugs.. where do they go ????

Hi all, I have just purchased myself a newer Omega, got the 2.5 one, had the 2.0 before...
It is a 2.5 V6, 1996 "N" reg CDX, Auto, If that helps.

I have had a rumage under the bonnet abd can see these 2 plugs unclipped, but unclipped to what i dont know....


Under the expansion tank is this 2 pinned clip, anyone know where that might go??? The cable runs from there ander the air filter and down to the front somewhere.


This one is attached to a piece of plastic, that may have broken off, it seems to have a sharp edge on it, as if it was broken, This on has 3 pins.


Any help would be appreciated.

Oh Yeah, the Cruise control does not seem to work either, maybe its related, the guy i bought it from said it worked one day, but then not the next.

My SRS Light is on, I have 2 airbags one on the steering wheel and on above the glove box, is there anything i can check myself to rectify the problem?

What components are involved??

have just retested my codes with the old paperclip and only have one code now 62 Fuel tank vent valve Voltage high, so what might this be, and how can i solve it??
