One of my sons-in-law had the cat nicked off his Auris hybrid not that long ago it was on a supermarket carpark on a Saturday afternoon.Mind you it was near Barnsley :-X ;D ;D
I'll have you know Barnsley WAS  quiet and semi-rural.  ;D

So they say.  :)

I've got 4 Astra G cats ,taken off cars i've scrapped , plus a  2000 Sh!troen picasso HDI one
might see what they are worth after Covid restrictions

If they are GM45 you might be surprised, selling at circa £400 a piece

But, of course, scrap dealers are obliged to ask for the identity of anyone who weighs one in  ::)

I have an old Honda Jazz, the cat on it's own is worth more than the car as a whole  ;D

Toyotas (and lexus), very easy to nick them, there is a roaring trade in bolt on protectors on ebay for them
Toyota dealers also try to sell them whenever they do a service.

WOW  :o
I'll have to see what is stamped on the cats but they are OEM original
there's a company called WARR who give good prices so I'm told .
But, of course, scrap dealers are obliged to ask for the identity of anyone who weighs one in  ::)
I'm not having an identity crisis  :o
I have ID, driving licence, passport etc  :P
I could probably even get Mrs Builder to dig out the relevant paperwork for ownership and scrapping of the cars  ;)

Good way of valuing them is to search the codes in sold items on ebay, happy to have a look for you if you get me the codes

The GM45 is a mani-cat type from a quick google
the only one of those is bolted to my mum's astra G ,which is MOTed ,Taxed ,only done less than 60K and not moved much since Covid started .
the cats I have are astra G 1.6 petrol x16szr etc , inline type  :(
I'll dig some out and check for GM numbers though

You misunderstand, young chap. What I'm saying is they shouldn't be able to weigh them in after stealing them, but........ ::)

Cat theft is a problem around here.

They prefer newer cars, because the cats are newer and have more precious metals left. They prefer hybrid, because the cat is used less and has more precious metals left.
