...................... because they tend to get out of hand
Cut down my front hedge and left it in the garden to dry out.
So today, me and the lad started pilling it all into the burning bin.
Picked the missus up and dropped her in the middle to flatten it down, carefully made sure that there was nothing too close to it and in went a couple of matches
( I did remove the missus first
)
Whoosh and up it went
Came in and poured myself a beer and sat down.
15 minutes later, the lad comes running into the living room screaming something about a fire.
So .................. I calmly finished off my beer and strolled outside to see what was going on
Oh shit, half the wooden fence is ablaze.
This is the one which has had 3 or 4 good coats of waste 10/40 semi synth over the last couple of years
Some of the cinders had managed to blow across and land behind some plywood which was propped up against the fence but the real problem was the 8x4 sheets of plastic and the 4 spare alloy wheels complete with tyres on which was well and truly ablaze
Now its been along time since I did any fire fighting but needs must.
Out came the hosepipe and I got in close to douse down the seat of the fire while the lad is chucking buckets of water at the fence
Managed to get it all out so I've just spent the last 30 minutes dragging everything out across the grass so if anything goes up, it won't spread
Looks like i'm on fire picket for the next hour or so
