Hi guys probably been done a hundred times but couldn't turn anything up on the search.
Anyone had sports cats or de-catted their Omega? I am thinking of the x30xe's in particular but any comments welcome.
Just wondering if there are any real gains, differences or problems with the idea? I'm guessing that de-cats won't pass an MOT.
I'm going to have my exhaust fiddled with anyway and wondering if I could tie them in on a deal ;)

Dead right! :y Your miggy will not be street legal without them. :(
Only vehicles registered before August 1992 can avoid the legal requirement for cat's. ;)

Thanks Lizzie, puts that one to bed - the sports cats are my particular area of interest thankfully. De-catted my old R620ti and had it sail an MOT. I am sure the results were fabricated in honesty :)

dont quote me on this and no lizzy i am not doubting u at all
but i am sure that i read some place that most v6 cars will pass mot without a cat i know my 98 v6 mondeo used to i think its somthing to do with running lean at idle but not to sure worth waiting till u find out for deffo :y

Can we forsee any problems running custom high-flow cats on these cars please? Will it naff up sensors or do any other nasty thing please? :)

I would be surprised if it did, to be honest. Having a catalytic converter requires the engine to run a chemically correct "stoichiometric" mixture (neither lean nor rich) as much of the time as possible. It does this by running closed-loop based on lambda sensor output, even at idle. A soichiometric mixture will not give you a low enough CO emission to pass the MOT emissions check without a cat.
My feeling is that the weakest link in the exhaust system on the V6 are the manifolds so it's not worth modifying in other areas until you have a nice tubular set on there. :-*

from experience,
if you de-cat you will loose low rpm torque ..
Fuel consumption will increase.. :( (if not replaced with a similiar flow apparat)
and you will have extra problems with welding after..
Not adviced :-/
ps: increase in power come in very high rpms that you will rarely benefit..

I tend to agree, I preferred the look of the old MV6 one too :-/
