General Car Chat / Rear view camera
« on: 11 October 2017, 15:30:56 »
Are these any good ?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WIFI-Car-Backup-Rear-View-Reversing-Camera-for-iPhone-iPad-Android-ios-System-/122148238568?hash=item1c709a34e8:g:qUAAAOSwB-1Yx80d

Looking at maybe getting a couple for myself.
One for the back of the estate because the daft mutt refuses to lay down when he is in the car so its impossible to see out of the back window.
The other is for the back window of the van so I can see behind when reversing into a slot / driving around  :D

Cunning plan is to view the picture on a iPhone SE if or when needed  :-\

Anybody use anything similar ?

General Discussion Area / Drink driving question
« on: 25 September 2017, 23:19:22 »
The campsite in Skegness I use has a club house on site.
3 or 4 nights a week, the place is packed to the rafters with shall we say elderly people who tend to live in the statics 8 months of the year.
Now these people near enough to a man are driving there cars upto the club house, parking up and again to a man getting pretty pissed up then after the bar is shut they will quite happily drive back to there respective statics well and truly over the limit.

Other then been friggin stupid, is this a offence ?

Just to add, the club house is a good 300 yards inside the gates.
The gates are open 24/7 and access to the main road is unrestricted.

General Discussion Area / IOS / iPhone question
« on: 19 August 2017, 11:33:58 »
I've had I phones for years and always keep a eye on the Health app which records steps / millage.

I have noticed that my old one (4s) seem top clock up as much as 50% more steps / millage as the newer (5se) one  :-\
This is after doing the same dog walk every morning that I have done fro the last 10 year.
The phone is always in the same pocket too  :-\

Any ideas ?

General Discussion Area / Chilli pepper plants question
« on: 13 August 2017, 13:03:14 »
Anybody on here dabble in growing these things ?

I've started to get green fingers in my middle age and are pretty good with the old tomato plants so this year, i've grown some jalapeno peppers and 2 variety's of chilli plants from seed  :y

I understand that the jalapeno's stay green and you cut them off when your happy with the size  :y

Right down to the chillies.
I have 2 sorts in ..............
One is the Cayenne which should be red in colour and hot and the other is serrano which should be yellow in colour and not so hot  ;)

When is the best time to remove these chillies ?
Do you wait for them to change colour first or cut them off when happy with the size and then let them change colour while sat on a dish on the window sill ?

TIA  :)

General Discussion Area / Tablet / micro usb adaptor thingy
« on: 09 August 2017, 16:31:43 »
I've got a Tesco's special tablet which I use to watch films / play music ect when i'm stuck in hotel rooms.
The memory on this contraption is very small so any films / music is stored on various usb thumb drives.
Problem is, the tablet uses the same port to charge as to read the usb drive. If the film is any longer then a couple of hours with the screen brightness turned up then the tablets battery fades away and I have to stop doing whatever i'm doing and stick it on charge again  :(

Can anyone personally recommend a adaptor which will let me supply charging power to the tablet AND run a usb drive at the same time ?

Omega General Help / Air con leaks
« on: 18 July 2017, 11:39:06 »
Went to get the aircon vacuumed out and filled up.
Its had a little leak for a while but this time I decided to ask him to get the UV light out.

Okay, i've got spots of dye on the condenser and also the pressure switch on the pump.

How much and from where is the best place to get a condenser from ?

Also is the pump pressure switch fixable of do I have to replace the pump ?

TIA

Omega General Help / Front passenger window stuck
« on: 22 June 2017, 13:13:41 »
As above

During the heat spell last week, the front passenger window stopped working.
Its locked in the up position at the moment.
When you try to lower or raise it from either switch, you can here a click from the motor behind the panel.

Before I remove the door card, my thinking is that the mech has jammed up due to the heat and fingers crossed a loosening of a few joints and a good grease up should do the job  :-\

Unless anybody has any other (sensible)  :P ideas ?

Omega General Help / Possible lambda fault
« on: 03 April 2017, 12:55:42 »
Went for a drive yesterday to blow the cobwebs off the car  :-X :D

Coming back, I got myself stuck in pretty slow moving traffic  :(

While slowly moving along, the EML light came on and stayed on. In itself, the car was running smooth with a nice idle.
The car started first time this morning and run great with no EML lights but I did pull off these codes .........

P0150 - (F)  02 Sensor Circuit Slow response (Bank 2 Sensor 1) Present
P0150 - (7)  02 Sensor Circuit slow response (Bank 2 Sensor 1) Intermittent

After todays drive, I could not replicate the fault  :-\

Are we looking at a straight sensor replacement or something else since I could not get the fault to return ?

The car was running on LPG at the time.
I didn't get time to check the live data but I will look later if I get chance  :)

Finished rebuilding the dash ect this afternoon so tonight, I've just been for a blast up the M62  :D
In its self, the car is going, eh very well   :-X :D :D

Right, the very weird bit  :-\ :-\
Select cruise in any gear between 2 and 4 and it works perfectly  :y
You can adjust the speed up and down and it totally disengages with a touch of the brake or clutch pedal  :y
BUT select cruise in 5th and it totally fails to engage regardless of vehicle speed or engine speed  :o :o
No eml or anything.

Car is a 3.2 that has been converted to manual  :y :y
