Daz, I've been thinking about this...I'd love to make it. However, I need until about midday tomorrow to clear what I was meant to be doing on the 18th and 19th. Is it too late for me to express an interest? I don't want to mess up your planning. I also don't have a tent either  ;D
Sleeping in the car is fine with me, I've done it before  :y

Josh, we have a spare two person tent if you want to borrow it, just let us know before we pack the cars!

I plan to leave after breakfast on Friday and arrive sometime after lunch.  Its as easy for me to pack a tent suitable for one/2/3/4/5/6 as another.....  ;)

Really sorry guys, but I really can't justify the expense of getting to the Lakes this year. :'( As some of you may know, I've had to spend over £1000 on the Omega in the last couple of months and I've now got my road tax renewal and MOT due at the end of June and I know the front discs and pads will need doing.
Thanks to Elite Pete for offering to help out with tent sharing and even a lift from Crewe if I jumped on a train but it wouldn't be the same if I couldn't bring the Mig and the OOF gas barbie. Sorry to let you guys down with the BBQ but I'm sure you won't go hungry! ::) and hopefully I'll make it to Newent. Hope it's as good as the other Lake meets have been (with the exception of Mrs Hitler ::)) so have fun and enjoy. :y

Looking at Autoroute ... and being aware I'll have the "pikey wagon" (with Gas BBQ, Hob, Oven, Fridge .. :)  ) behind me.... and as I don't know the area /roads at all ... which is the "best" route ??

M6-J36, A590, A591         or     M6-J40, A66, A591

Any thoughts from "them that know" ???

:)

M6-J40, A66, A591 is the way the Pink One and myself were thinking last night.
From memory Windermere can be a proper car park on a nice day and being stuck behind a sightseeing coach can be tiresome too.

bob.dent - sorry you can't make it, hope to see you at Newent if not before :y.  If you did fancy it without the car, I'm sure lifts/tents/whatever could be sorted out, and I know we could find a BBQ to prop you up ;D.  I know there are still costs involved though - beer, beer, and, errr, beer ;D

Entwood - A66, the other roads are not pikey friendly.  Actually, scrub that, go to Sellafield, then Boot (where the psycho killed himself), up over Hardknnot and Wrynose....  ....just stay away from the M6 and A66, as I am going to use them ;D ;D ;D

Your brakes will get a damn good workout on the downhill sections and your oil cooler won't be thanking you on the uphill parts(along with all the traffic behind you) ;D

Hardknot and Wrynose with a burger van. Now, that would be worth setting up a grandstand for the spectators.

Suspect the burger van would need a large dustpan and brush to help it back down. ;D

Just remind me what all those red lines mean ??? And those funny little arrows on the roads ???

Looks ok to me .. bit of a tight turn in cockley  .. but should be do-able ....   :)

If I like the view I can always stop and put the kettle on .... I'm sure the locals won't mind ......  :)
