« on: 14 January 2007, 22:12:41 »

About to purchase a 1995 elite 3.0 24v with auto box. Its just ticked over the 100k mark.

What miles has your 3.0 24v got on it? (wonder whos got the most miles?)

Hello snapz.

Mines not a 3.0 but it's done just over 111,000.  I heard of a 2.5 that was over the 300,000 mark and was still going.

100k is barely run in! ;)

I have an MV6 with 142k and an estate with 138k. Both absolutely fine.
I have seen a 3.0 elite with 215k and it was sweet.

Engines are very robust as long as you service them regularly and get the cambelt kit replaced every 40k/4 years. :)

It's critical to keep the breathers clean, regular oil changes - some say at least every 5k, some say sooner.

My MV6 3.0 24v has 138k.  I think the engine will go on forever with proper, regular maintence. Obviously, suspension, shocks, steering etc show wear, so may need replacement...

My 97 3.0 Elite is on 127k miles and the engine's going strong, although the rocker gaskets need replacing.

The autobox, however, is a bit clunky sometimes.

regular servicing and maintainance means the v6`s can go forever. 10000o miles is NOTHING if its looked after  :y

Can go for double that, mines...a pup really at 78000 on a 2000model ;)

Not that I'm suggesting that anyone tries to compete with this.  :-? I was talking to the bloke who was interviewing me for a job and found out he had an MV6 estate. Long story very short but I mentioned cam belt & tensioner changes at 40000 miles. Before it hit a wall that put it off the road needing a front end, his was still 'going strong' on it's original belt & tensioner at 110 000 miles!  :o  :o And he thought it was just 30000 miles overdue.  :-?

Was chatting to another omega owner taxi driver today.....his was 2.0 facelift....on a 51 plate...bit late i thought for a 2.0...but thats what the badge says...220,000 miles on it.. :y but he said it does use a litre of oil every 250-300 miles  :o but it does run on lpg....so that probably explains part of the oil use.

2.5TD Opel - 300,000km (180,000 miles).

So far (apart from tyres etc):
1 track rod end @ 180k km
air con compressor @ 200k km (clutch packed up)
1 set of front brake pads  & discs @ 250k km
auxiliary belt + tensioner + waterpump @270k km
rear pads @ 280 k km

Thats about it - can't complain so far!
