Easy fix then, replace the pipe ;) (or check if its got crimped anywhere). Piping is about £2.99 for 5m from most car shops, except the miserable person with no father in Brackley...

If the tailgate washer is not working remove the jet (need to get access to back of it to press in two 'wings') cut off the pipe and check you have pressure and that the pipe isnt trapped or split somewhere.
Blockage is likely to be in the jet itself, I had no success cleaning one out so bought a new one and was surprised how cheap it was.

Replacing the jets is the best plan as you can never completely unblock them

i doubt even water is reaching the gets, my plan was to take the rubber pipe off to the drivers side washer get, i accidently ripped a good chunk of pipe out (was using long nosed pliers..) With a good 1/2 inch of the pipe being ripped i tryed the washer jets again, but still no water came dripping out of the pipe.

I think something there are 2 seperate pipes which leave the motor (checked & working) 1 pipe for the front and 1 for the rear i think it must have got caught someware or pinched....

Even though I have Expert Status on here  ::)

I doubt i could do it, even just moving the engine a bit. I don't have to tools to move or lift the engine atall.

Whip the head off. It's not that difficult, there is a lot involved but each step is easy so just do one step at a time. Once you have one head off and see the condition of the head gasket you'll want to do the other one while you are at it :-)

The car only cost you £300 so it sounds ideal as a car to get experience on and if I can do it I'm sure that you can.

I agree breaking the car is extreme - but theres no sentiment here it was bought for profit.......and yes if it was only the manifold then its crazy.

But thinking of the other issues you have/had? cant quite remember what, thinking also its for profit and totalling up costs plus outlay on car against expected sale price s where i am conming from....

Blocked jets....here comes that bad word....on the rovers this is a commo problem and invariably its never motors its always a fragmented / pinched / leaking pipe ( normally a double whammy on the rover as the water leaks for months/ years down the rear pillar and speeds up the rusting process)

Different car but worth investigating maybe ?  ;)

A full leather inteior for an estate is not common, so maybe a few people on here with Plod estates might be interested in it!  :).....
Here's a potential buyers for your estate's leather interior.

Strangely enough, I was running new tailgate pipes in my Rover 25 as they had split only a few weeks ago :)

Tunnie's original pump had seized solid, so we got replacement from scrappy...

Yup ripped one out of another '95 estate, tested the pump in a bottle of water. Got a nice water feature that Charlie Dimmock would have been proud of. Without the gauze on the water jets were about 7 feet long!  ;D

Andy B, Many thanks for that Link.

I just e-mailed the guy, my Elite also has projector headlights too  :)

Be interesting to see how much he will give me for the leather interior & projectors. I would not mind breaking even at this point and stripping it down for more parts for another project.....

Any thoughts guys on what I can push for on the complete interior? - Door Cards, Seats, Headrests, Projector lights?

I was also thinking of selling the car to him whole? - Charge a little more than I paid for it to break even & move on.

Tunnie - RE my PM the other day

I've got a fair few tools, including the Torx sockets.

I'd happily come for a drive over your way for a day and tackle the manifold with you, for the cost of some tea and bacon sarnies!

I'm sure together we'd manage it. I'm not an expert like Mark.. but I rebuilt the top end of my 3.0 elite on my own, and it ran afterwards!

Hey, sounds like a exhaust gasket changing party in Brackley then!  I'm sure Tunnie's mum can do some decent bacon butties, with a nice dollop of HP sauce :D
