Frontera engine upgrade
« on: 02 December 2014, 23:45:34 »

after doing head,im thinking about fitting a new engine, current is 2.2 same as omega, cambelt driven, want to keep the inlet manifold due to lpg,so what are my options
1- fit newer 2.2
2- get a 2.0 and upgrade with cams maybe looking at turbo conversion, but intercooler will have to be mounted on top of engine as need front for winch.
3- fit the 3.2 engine from frontera range
Any ideas welcome on what engine and mods
Replacement engine can be modified before fitting as have a place i can store it and work on it as and when i want to.

Later 2.2 is a TOTALLY different engine.

The 2.0 cam upgrade should also work on the 2.2

It'll take some graft though to get that 3.2 Isuzu lump to talk to the rest of it ::)

Why? The car is fine as it is. Time and money wasted.

Didn't Vauxhall bolt a turbo to the desmond engine  :-\

If not, drop a 2ltr LET in there but remember the rest of the car needs to handle the extra torque  ;)

If your thinking turbo conversion, then what about one of the SAAB units?

I'll sell you my recently rebuilt 230 bhp 2.3 saab engine with full fat turbo, will have the rest of the car attached too ;)
