Passed in Swindon at 06:30 this morning by a black Omega that looked like it had been raped by a scoobie and with a large rat as a bonnet mascot. Ring any bells?!

Omega General Help / Re: 2.5 diesel

The electronics are different in the top of the diesel Range Rover P38 fuel pump. I think you'd have to swap the top of the pump over and it is a bit tricky.

Rangie pumps have a code that ends 994. Not sure what the Omega ones are, probably 993 or 995. You can get a refurbed pump from Diesel Jones in Manchester for about £500 plus VAT.

If he wants to burn notes then get a Range Rover.

If you want comfort and a big smile then I highly recommend a supercharged Jag!

I used some graphite lock lube on mine. Brilliant stuff. Just squirt it in and hey-presto. Might not hurt to clean out first with a squirt of electrical contact cleaner.

Central locking motor has gone. Other parts still available.

Hi am having two Champiro VP1's fitted on Tuesday. Never heard of them but, at £63 each, fitted and balanced...... ::)
Indeed, what's the worst that could happen... ::)

Must be top end tyres for a Daewoo at that price!  :-\

Find a ditch backwards at 60mph?

Depends on the engine you've got. There are 3 variants on the P38: M51 diesel; GEMS; THOR.

I've got unlock codes for the diesel and the GEMS. If it is GEMS then it should reset them. You might get lucky in that the petrol is probably ODBII compliant. None of the other modules are on the P38.

I had "keycode lockout - engine disabled" upon refitting battery.

I've entered the code and she's fired up fine, all electrical systems seem happy enough and it now unlocks/locks on the key :y

The only error I'm getting now is "window not set" but I'm sure that's an easy fix, I'll read up, cheers for the info :y

Window Not Set fix = take window all the way down and then all the way up and keep the button down until it says Window Set. :) Then do the other 3!

Alarms, central locking and immobilisers(all part of the same system) were temperamental even when new and reliable. Now they're a real crapshoot as to whether it will work at all. Totally flattening the battery will not help.

Shit happens, she didn't mean to do it. The rangie isn't the early one, it is a later model with currently no electrical faults, I'm not overly worried :y

Plus, she can make it up to me ;D ;D

A Rangie with no electrical faults? Nah. You just haven't noticed what's wrong with it yet.

If it is a P38 I've got a Nanocom to read / reset all codes etc. Welcome to pop round or I can when passing next.

Just been out and I also have a headlight levelling motor (cannot remember which motor that one came off but the part number is 90413185). Weird as I don't remember ever replacing a headlight or motor.

I also have the black surround for a wing mirror, albeit a couple of the clips look broken.

Also found a 2/3rds trip computer screen. Cannot remember what that was off. I remember they were about £300 second hand about 10 years ago!

I've traded in the Mig. I'm very sorry to see her go but the valve-stem seals were beyond my ability as a tinkerer.

In my shed I have some brand new rear brake shoes for a 2001 2.6 CDX saloon (auto).

I think I also have a central locking motor.

I also have a headrest for the rear centre seat of the older 2.5 version, still in the plastic from when the car was new.

Parts have to be picked up but I'd rather they went to someone on here than eBay.

The day my P Reg CDX is finished the FL Turbo Weasel is going to the nearest Auction or scrapyard!!!  :D

Prefacelifts definitely the only way forward  :y

Fixed  :)

I dont think there is any reputable source to find out how many pf are left on the road , there is none around here and hasnt been for 3-4 years  :y

Sure I've seen this on a site somewhere. Honest John, maybe? DVLA must know at least?

Omega General Help / Re: V6 water pump
« on: 17 November 2014, 23:12:57 »
V6 is preventative :y

but unnecessary  ;)
It probably is.  I didn't change this one last year (which was the 2nd cambelt since changing) thinking it should be OK, but obviously its failed now.

Obviously not every one will fail, but it seems they are rare to fail before 80k, and far more likely after. Understandably I guess.

I'm sure some will last the life of the car. I'm sure some cambelts and tensioners would as well, but the more you use them, the more likely they will fail.

Difficult one to recommend.

Did mine with the full cam-belt kit at 80k. From memory it wasn't much more in price so figured better safe than sorry. Mind you,  I do the cam-belt every 40k together with tensioners so I may be a little over cautious.

Any issues with FIP chain stretch?
